| News Comment | Southampton Planning To Keep Faith With Russell Martin But Why ! at 16:19:51
The longer this goes on the gap will get greater and we are running out of games. No decent Manager will want to take over a sinking ship. Anyone with just a little knowledge of the game will know that a high possession of play does not win matches, it's shots on goal and goals that matter! Do the Board understand that? |
| News Comment | Is Russel Martin’s Priority Southampton FC Or His Own Agenda at 15:33:55
Let's face it things will not change. RM will not change his style of playing, tippy tappy does not win matches, it's goals that count, not possession football. SR will not change Manager as they are not interested if we get relegated, they are all wealthy and are not interested in Football, so losing the TV income will not hurt their pockets.. The players still get paid vast amounts win or lose or even just sitting on the bench! Is no one bothered? It is us, the supporters who lose out we are not entertained or appreciated so what can we do?? . |
| News Comment | Southampton At Aston Villa The Verdict at 20:12:40
Just a thought. if RM had any common sense and resigned he would leave without any blemish on his CV as being sacked. He could then boast I left of my own accord, surly better than being Sacked for my own incompetence! |
| News Comment | Russell Martin Turns On The Fans And Players at 11:45:31
Please send your excellent summary to SR, or are they not interested! If SR do the right thing, get Potter in before Monday's Wolves / West Ham game because on Monday one these Managers will get the sack. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Chelsea The Verdict at 21:44:30
I keep going on my computer to " NEWS NOW - SOUTHAMPTON" to see if Martin has got the sack, but nothing so far, what is the delay ? We don't want to go into the record books as the team with the lowest points ever in the Premiership! |
| News Comment | Sources Say Southampton Have Made Decision About Russell Martin at 15:43:13
Currently 4 points after 11 games, so what can we expect in the next 3 games, Liverpool, Brighton and then Chelsea? Looking at the league tables we have scored fewer goals in the top two divisions than any other club in the Premiership and the Championship also we have the largest goal difference in both leagues. It goals that count not possession. RM is doing his longer best and is likeable, but frankly he is out of his depth and Saturday evenings are no longer enjoyable. Just a suggestion, get Graham Potter in on a 6 month contract with a large bonus if we stay up. We have nothing to lose but wait another 3 games and the players confidence will be ruined for months! |
| News Comment | Southampton V Stoke City The Carabao Cup Verdict at 18:58:13
Let's get back to basics, it's goals that win matches not just a high percentage of possession. Has anyone looked at the league table and told RM change your style or we change you! Football is also about entertainment but tippy , tappy sideways is not entertainment! |
| News Comment | Justin Bijlow Fails Southampton Medical at 22:22:42
Brian Clough (a great Manager) many years ago said you need three key players who form the spine of your team. A Goalkeeper, a Centre Half, (today called a centre back) and a Centre Forward At the moment we have none of these so frankly we are going to struggle! |
| News Comment | Southampton At Newcastle United The Preview at 11:32:25
A very realistic summary. Thank you Nick, you are doing a very good job . In Match reports in future please just mention Yellow cards as when they mount up they are as important as injuries. |
| News Comment | No Togetherness No Character No Fight at 11:17:10
Sorry but I don't think Russel Martin has the ability to turn thing around. The players must have now lost their confidence and his man management treatment of Joe Lumley says it all. Constant team changes and a tippy tappy football does not produce goals, possession means nothing. As for the play offs, very little chance of beating any of the other teams and getting promoted. I just fear for the future unless there is a change at the top. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Swansea City The Verdict at 19:07:15
We often hear on Radio Solent that Fans leave several minutes before the Final Whistle has gone, in response to Itchen north I would suggest it is not because lack of appreciation of the players but traffic delays. Leaving at 90 minutes before added time, a 15 minute normal journey will take about 20 minutes, leaving after the game is over with traffic delays it will often take 75 minutes! |
| News Comment | Southampton V Bristol City The Verdict at 19:03:44
Yes the Referee did seem a little harsh against the Saints but no mention in your report of any Yellow Cards given out! Regrettably we may lose more players before Christmas because of the number of Cards accumulating. |
| News Comment | A Rough Guide To Millwall at 17:12:41
Just to say THANK YOU for your detailed information you give on your "Rough Guides", also "Your Verdict" In the National Press there is little coverage of Southampton games and the "Echo" never indicates Yellow Cards, could you please include this feature in you Match "Verdicts"? Thanks. |
| News Comment | Southampton Fans To Petition Council For The Lawrie McMenemy Bridge at 17:50:27
Sorry , but NOT in favour of this idea at all. He did walk out of the Club TWICE and when we went broke I recall it was a Mr Trant of Lymington who put his hand in his pocket. From Mr Mac I don't recall any contribution at all. The real Heroes have been Ted Bates, Matt Le T and Francrs Benali. |
