I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

It should be split between the miners families.

Why are they part of her family? Did any of Harold Wilson's estate go to any miners?

Does any one else see the irony in Thatcher and Tory haters buying a song written by Andrew Lloyd Webber who is a regular financial supporter of the Conservatives? In a roundabout way the haters are funding who they hate!

I stand corrected - it was her son who was worth £65m.

Just read that more mines were closed (211) during Wilsons era than Thatchers (154).

Edit. Apologies to D Alien, who posted it earlier. Note to self, read earlier posts.

Someone will be making a few bob out of it, though I thought the music was composed by Harold Arlen and the lyric written by E. Y. Harburg for the 1939 film. But if Lloyd Webber's is cashing in maybe, unlike most rich Tories, he'll pay UK income tax.

OK then - School milk - Wilson (0) Thatcher (Billions).

Council house sales - Wilson (0) Thatcher (Loads, 40+% of which went into private landlord ownership, relatively zero revenue generated re-invested in new social housing )

Personally hated having to drink school milk. No fridge in our primary school. Harold should have stopped it. He got typhoid from contaminated milk.
Thought you could only buy your council house if you had lived in it for some time? Presume the private landlords got in on secondary purchases.

Negative-Wilsons 95% tax drove away high earners and talent, resulting in zero tax income from that group. My Dad and Uncle ran a welding business in this era. His politics changed from left to right due to frustration of his hard work being taken in tax.
Anyhow, each to his own. That's politics. Nowt wrong with a bit of debating.
