Sport Republic - Building for the future but neglecting the present 12:37 - Oct 1 with 882 viewsShirtNumbers

Having failed to win in our opening 6 games I think it is obvious that there are issues within the squad.

We went and panic-bought two sub-par wingers in Fraser and Cornet leaving us with no proven Premier League quality out wide.

Once again we have no clue where the goals will come from because none of our strikers appear to be at the correct level.

These issues are obvious to me and likely a few others on here so why don't Sport Republic see this?

We have signed 3 players who have immediately gone out to Goztepe plus Ronnie Edwards and Nathan Wood for a combined price of £7 million (Source: Transfermarkt) who are all supposed to lead us into the future however we have neglected issues that have plagued us for years and continue to plague us now.

How much time and resources have gone into scouting these 'future stars' that could have gone into fixing the issue of the lack of goals in our team?

I've not fully given up on Archer.
Terrible player outside the penalty area going by the Ipswich game but he looks lively and sharp in and around the penalty area.
Yes he missed three chances against Ipswich but they weren't terrible misses.
Maybe I'm clutching at straws here but surely he's a better option than Ross Stewart or Armstrong who never even look like getting into goal scoring positions for all their endeavours.

The team is lacking in Prem experience.

Which is one of the reasons why Jack Stephens will be straight back into the team on Sunday, sadly.

Poll: When will Martin be sacked?

I sort of agree with you. He's not as bas as he's looked. As with other players, he has no confidence and that makes him look bad.

Where I disagree is that I can't see him as a centre forward. In the old days playing 442 teams had a centre forward and a second striker. He would have been terrific as a second striker. One of our biggest problems is the lack of a centre forward, but when Ross Stewart has developed some fitness, I think playing Stewart and Archer together is something that should be tried. Not exactly a trendy modern formation but I don't give a f*ck about that.
