Makes you realise when you see a quote or hear someone say how lucky we are to live in Wales that they are either ignorant and do not know better or have not travelled around the country much.

Ive spent a bit of time looking at those .
I think Penrys Rhondda came out top certainly in the mid Glamorgan category . Gwent' s champion was Rhymney I believe with a mention in dispatches for Cwmbran .
Worth a look on You tube .

As a bit of fun by some wag , Pontardawe was mentioned as a dump to live .

I like living here myself , wherever you go there are difficult and dodgy areas .

Unfortunately Neath and Swansea Centres for shopping , I avoid unless necessary calls .

Sad to say I do not want to venture into Swansea any more for trade .

I’ve been living away now for 47 years .
In 76 ,things were starting to get depressing, they were tough days but the acceleration from relative vibrancy to increasing depression was striking . I was down for a Stoke game once and booked a bnb on Riverfront .Took wife was meal in Portuguese restaurant on Kingsway and shikstvfood was fine, the overwhelming ambience really upset me and next day was virtually inconsolable as to the way the city had gone to the dogs.
Visiting Mumbles didn’t help much either after seeing the Antelope as it was .
It was a focal point for the whole of south west Wales .

It was the natural shopping area for the Swansea Valley.

Old photos of Swansea really pull on my heart strings

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

The destruction of any town you wish to mention is hardly heartwarming.

Burnley, OMG.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Penrhys use to be the wild west known locally as lil Beirut.

In the 80s it was awful,
They pulled down 3/4 of the place and it is now just a basic ghost town.
At one point the busses were not aloud to go around the site.
Due to being robbed so frequently 🥶

I remember that place well wow what a place, it was like Belfast during the troubles I used to go up there in the mid 1980's with an old girl friend to visit her Dad. Boarded up houses everywhere covered in graffiti, skinheads wondering around sniffing glue & petrol
nasty nasty place

That is penrhys mate couldn't walk to the shop up there without having 2/3 fights.
