Any other fellow R’s collecting stuff. I started off a few years ago collecting Wisden Cricket almanacs. Have now achieved the full set from 1946 to the present day, and a yellow wall is a big feature on my book case. Now starting to get the war years and then go backwards towards the 1930’s and 1920’s, but that will be a slow process due to the cost of originals. Have some early ones, 1940 and 1934 at the moment and also a facsimile of 1916 which has a 35 page obituary of W G Grace.

My wife's family are collectors. I swear it's an hereditary trait.
She has Key Rings, rare beanie toys, Smallville stuff. Mostly in boxes in the loft apparently worth a few bob.
Her brother collects Lego sets, Matchbox Cars, Rubber ducks and fridge magnets (in his 50s)
Her mum has huge snow globe collection and they're all over the walls of their house in glass cabinets.
Her dad is a Hornby Rail collector. Got his trains set up in one one of their spare rooms, must be a few grands worth and that's quite impressive tbf. He tells me about the trains he's got rare edition Flying Scotsman only released a certain few through Kelloggs cornflakes back in the day or something (in one ear...)

285 different rare Gins - all unopened - full-proof investment - will sell for many thousands in 20 years time - or if worth nothing I will never have to buy a bottle of gin to drink ever again - heads I win - tails I win.

I collect all the different £2 and 50p coins. For no real reason at all. Reckon I’ll have a day down the pub spending them sometime.

You spend all this time collecting stuff, then you die and your offspring then spend months swearing about all the old shite you collected while they're clearing it out.

I used to collect various things (CDs, films, gaming tat) but one day I realised I hated tat and so I systematically sold/gave away/chucked at least 95% of it.

The only thongs I'm collecting now are anthology horror films (films like Creepshow or Vault of Terror where there are multiple stories in them). But even then that's digitally so there's no footprint to it. I'm just trying to keep an archive of the genre.

That and money. Its amazing how much you save when you don't spend it on collections of depreciating tat.

That is one reason that I prefer electronic books.

I collect snow globes. Ok I’ve collected one. But it’s a good ‘un. Bought it in Lourdes. Bernadette on her knees praying. Below her reads the legend Je Suis L'immaculée Conception. Shake it and it snows … for a few seconds. Shake it again. Snows again. Hours of fun.

Can I talk about my pin badge collection again?

We tend to pick up a tat fridge magnet everytime we go away somewhere, keeps the fridge looking more interesting than just being a blank machine.

My wife has loads of Beanie babies from when she was a kid too. The plan is for a future child to be able to play with them...

When my dad was doing his will, he asked if there was anything we all wanted as his writer had told him to be super specific

"Well, I think it goes without saying I get your vinyl"

Does the video history on an adult website count as a collection?

If not, I don't have any.

That's got to be one of the best ever things to collect or the best spelling mistake I've seen in a long time.

"The only thongs I'm collecting now"

Are these new or used thongs ?

Do you have the 50p with the hands of two members of the band Ozric Tentacles on it? This is absolutely true, the 50p with the linked hands was designed in conjunction with the sculptor David Wynne (RIP), who was the father of bassist Roly (RIP) and guitarist and synth player Ed. He based the design on his children's hands.

I used to collect Brooke Bond tea cards and loved swapping duplicates with my mates. My grandad had a big album full of cigarette cards and I used to spend ages thumbing through it. When he sadly died, it was given to me and while I was delighted to be entrusted with the album, I do now shudder to think of the eye-watering number of ciggies my relatives smoked in the course of acquiring all those cards.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

I collect rocks. Any trip the wife and I go on that has rocks lying around I pick one up.

Within reason of course, I don't arrive back from the Coop with them.

Problem is I don't make any kind of note or keep track of where they came from - no idea why, not organised enough probably. I should probably stop.
