Dickie 04:45 - Mar 15 with 4342 views | The_Beast1976 | Not been the same player since he tweeted that he was playing golf with John Terry and loads of fans replied giving him dog's abuse and the club made him delete the tweet. Probably hates everything about the place after all that kerfuffle. Suspect he'll be on his way regardless this Summer anyway [Post edited 15 Mar 2023 8:03]

Dickie on 08:47 - Mar 15 with 3805 views | bosh67 | The problem for us is that if he does move on yet again we won't get what we paid for him. He has been very good overall but the chronic lack of pace and lack of confidence now has done him in. As I said on another thread Warburton identified his lack of pace and created a defence shape where he was almost always facing play do he didn't get turned for pace. If he is in that position and confident he is generally very good. The shame is that he is very good at carrying the ball forward and can pass. I am surprised that no one has thought to move him further forward as a midfielder in the same kind of position as Declan Rice. He seems far more suited to break up play, carry the ball, distribute it and we know he can shoot. I think his issue with pace is a real problem as a centre back. I don't really care who he plays golf with.

Dickie on 09:12 - Mar 15 with 3682 views | Padulas_Shampoo | Whilst I wouldn't condone abusing anyone on SC for any reason...if this man has let a few tweets damage his mental psyche so much that his performances spiral to literal non-league standards over the course on an entire season then he is not cut out for professional football. Perhaps a better course of action would be to not tweet about socialising with his employer's fans' most disliked person? Or not being on social media at all? People here act as if it's just QPR fans that use SM despicably. ALL of SM is a toxic cesspit of abuse that every user engages with by the own volition. Every single football club has fans that will act the same way. You think if he played for West Ham and tweeted about playing golf with Frank Lampard he wouldn't be ripped to shreds in the replies? How about he's held accountable for the way he's done his job this season whilst still collecting his handsome pay checks rather than insinuating these pathetic defensive performances are somehow the fault of QPR fans.

Great post, I said some time ago I would consider him in CDM role as better playing with ball in front of him, started out at Reading as a Midfielder and can read the game well, Just confidence is shot and his body shape and positioning is terrible and casuing us to concede so many, Rotherham's 1st being a classic example of when's he's turned he's in trouble, as with last nights 2nd goal.
Dickie on 09:27 - Mar 15 with 3579 views | BklynRanger | I think they've been desparate to get him back to being a sellable asset. That plus the 'injuries' to other options has had him in the starting 11 for far longer than he should have been. Maybe this is the moment to give up?

That move to the middle is an interesting idea. We have nothing to lose.
Dickie on 09:44 - Mar 15 with 3508 views | TheChef | Not been the same player since having to play in a back four, and the accumulated PTSD since October. Clearly a much better player in a back three, but that lack of versatility is also going to impact his sell-on value which has gone through the floor anyway

Dickie on 09:48 - Mar 15 with 3481 views | sdm1508 | If Laird ever comes back I would have him as right wing back and move Kakay to where Dickie is. I think numbers are short at them moment and maybe he wouldn't play if there are options. The fact ainsworth changed the formation to something we have been crying out for is a positive so he must also see Dickie isn't up for it at the moment. I do think it would be good to see Paal and Laird in this system again. I also think we only play one up top rather than Dykes and Martin. We need the extra body in midfield. Dickie though at the first opportunity needs to be dropped. I noticed when he makes a mistake that lead to a goal he is gesturing and waving his arms about. He knows its his mistake and the other players do too

He can play golf with Gary Glitter or Vladimir Putin for all I care, but John Terry !? Come on, there are limits we can be expected to tolerate. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Dickie on 11:49 - Mar 15 with 3204 views | Jules4367 | Please can someone who has played the game at any seriously coached level clarify something for me regarding a player's mindset and professionalism. Does a player actually accept that he (or, of course, she, etc) is letting people down? Of course other players in their team will let them know in no uncertain terms, but it is one thing being told and another actually 'accepting' that the criticism is valid. If they do accept what do they then actually 'do' about it? Do they talk to the coaches and seek guidance and coaching as to how to 'not' do what they are doing?? Yes, of course in the speed and pressure of the moment they may forget but what about their role in set plays? Surely they must be thinking...this is what I must do and this is what, under any circumstances, I MUST NOT do - but I feel that this is so obvious and simple I am being naive or missing something. How can a team player constantly be poor and make the wrong decisions. I am not confident in Dickie or anyone in our defence and they are being paid weekly to go to work and get the fundamentals of the job correct. In my world (idealistic or working reality) anyone with an ounce of integrity knowing that he/she/etc is letting others down (in an office, factory, team, etc) would go to their boss and discuss and perhaps step aside for a while - but to keep accepting money and not doing what is asked and expected is somewhat fraudulent...isn't it? As I say, I am probably being very naive, but I wouldn't be paid if I kept mucking up at work. The boss would simply say, if you cannot do this I am going to try someone else as, in reality, they cannot muck it up more than you are doing. Wouldn't you try 'anyone'??? (Please stop playing 10 men (carrying one) or 9 men (carrying two) against 11. Bring up someone from the B team who wants to play his heart out!

Played to an ok standard but yes of course he is aware. He seems a quiet guy anyway and that was my problem when I was younger . I had no confidence and Dickie has certainly lost his . He will be aware that he is letting his team mates and himself down but it’s the fans he’ll be most aware of . He will care, no doubt about that but the more he gets himself mentally drained by the stresses of it all the worse he will get . He needs taking out the team to get some help and rebuilding but we dint have the players so we are stuck in this limbo hell where he and we suffer every week . He ain’t the only one either . Dieng, Dunne Dozzell all really going through it now, but the squad is so thin GA cannot do anything but try to big them up so they come through it but from experience, if the confidence in yourself has gone and there is no big help available then it’s just a downward spiral . Dele Alli is a prime example
Dickie on 12:03 - Mar 15 with 3138 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | I just watched the goals from last night, and Dickie was awful. He actually turned his back on one of the goals. He is weak physically and mentally and looks shot to pieces. I've never rated him like some, his lack of pace has been targeted since he joined, and I'll happily see him go. He doesn't talk to any of the players around him, no gestures, nothing. No wonder Drewe was hung out to dry with Dickie inside him. I actually think Blackpool targeted Dickie rather Drewe, as they knew Dickie doesn't have the pace to cover outside, hence the overloads. Cant wait until he has gone so we can have a defender that is prepared to get hurt actually defending.

Even Nick London or Andy Sinton said something on commentary last night about defenders having to put themselves in positions where they may get hurt. Think it was after the 5th goal

And yet he looked so much more assured in the Watford game. Scoring or conceding the first goal seems to make such a difference in mentality to this bunch of players.

Dickie on 13:05 - Mar 15 with 2864 views | baz_qpr | If you look at the Stats he generally performs better at home than away (Dunne ironically is the opposite) But he is mentally broken and fragile and that pen which btw was ridiculous so early on and then another classic Dickie / Kakay combo for the second did him. Frankly he would have been better off being hooked after 10 minutes and playing Gubbins than continuing.

Dickie on 18:20 - Mar 15 with 2351 views | Benny_the_Ball | To be fair there are at least half a dozen players who have underperformed this season so I'm not sure singling out Dickie is fair. However, the complete and utter deterioration in his form is worrying. He was initially out of favour with Beale but has been forced to play through weight of injuries. Perhaps that dented his confidence? [Post edited 15 Mar 2023 18:22]
