We might as well stick with Russell until the end of season. This squad is just not good enough to challenge play offs. We currently need a second striker, two wingers and a right back and there doesn't seem to be much movement coming in apart from the recall of Whittaker. |  |

Martin has to demonstrate he is progressing the team and the players individually. Martin had five academy players on the pitch today with 4 local boys. (Benda Congreve Cullen Cooper and Cabango). Benda was beaten by a very sharp finish which would have troubled many.
Cooper did better than Martin with quality loan player he had no chance of keeping. He needs to do some good quality wheeling and dealing. Obafemi is ideal for Swansea but is sadly too high maintenance.
A draw away at Bristol against a motivated team is not a disaster. |  |

We don’t need players. I can’t remember having a more talented side in this league, probably since Brendan’s promotion side. Any competent manager will be able to get this lot into the promotion mix.
I was told to enjoy the current success today because we scored against Bristol, despite only winning 1 of the last 10 (11 now). I can’t begin to explain how far we have fallen, completely needlessly, to the point people expect to be dancing in the streets as we happen to be beating Bristol City.
And of course the point I made was some are all too happy to praise Martin for players playing well, but then they blame players for playing badly. It seems an uneven standard and one designed to continue to avoid taking accountability at managerial level.
He does that enough without certain fans helping him do it. These players will largely be here longer than the manager, how quickly some wish to slate them is beyond me. |  |

Peterson is not a striker, he’s a winger.
Gyokeres was not ready to start in the Championship which is why Coventry largely kept him on the bench or out of the squad that season too.
He never said he didn’t have anyone who was listed as a striker, his complaint was he had nobody good enough to play in that position.
Which was true as agreed by all (including you) at the time. Hence why we had a converted singer in Lowe there and a converted forward in Ayew - neither are natural strikers. Whittaker is also an attacking mid/winger.
Being a natural striker (Cullen, the only other ACTUAL striker one you mentioned) and being a natural striker capable of starting and thriving in the championship are wildly different things.

His complaints had nothing to do with taking away his ability to use the WINGER, his complaints were for guided towards the notion of how little control he had over certain incomings and outgoings - which then set the stage for one of the most criminal Januarys we have seen in many seasons.
