Russell Martin to Norwich City ? on 02:52 - Nov 9 by Dr_Parnassus | What has that fraction being our most successful got to do with the statement that we have been a passing side for most of our history? We haven’t. At MK Dons he told the fans he planned to stay for a long time, and left within 48 hours of saying so. Anyone still taking what managers say regarding their futures as gospel really need to have a word with themselves. Moving clubs is always a risk, but part of the job. Anyone with ambition will move up the leagues when the opportunity arises, it’s not brave - it’s the way it works. Doesn’t mean you are automatically to invested to do that again, in fact history suggests that isn’t the case. But yes, agreed. There is almost no chance that Norwich will be considering him as a serious candidate. That may well change in the future, let’s hope so. Because if that is the case then he is likely to have achieved something with us. |
It seems we are in total agreement. I don't understand people who think some nice words from people who have been here 2 minutes counts for so much when history tells us otherwise. Managers and players are exactly the same, with a few exceptions. If a bigger club, a club in a higher league and/or a club offering more money comes along, if the player or manager thinks its a better prospect for them then they'll leave. There is very little loyalty. As Dr P points out, martin said he was staying then 48 hours later was gone. he won't be going to Norwich though, not yet anyways.

My post was aimed at Resolven for his myth perpetuation....reading his post and that of many on here it looks as though we have played a possesion game for many years...the myth is this started with Martinez.....its so fa from reality . I was purely pointing out the difference between Martinez and MArtin football. Yes Martin's obsession with possession is not agreeing with me especially when it leads to us giving away 2 silly goals as we did on Saturday....sometimes its better to clear our lines or put the ball into touch to allow us to regroup... Lets see how we finish the season but for me the jury is still out on our manager he has my support but I will critique when needed...great few wins and yes we lost to the top of the league but we still gifted them 2 goals which we could do without in our goals against column

Spot on. Both Martinez and Rogers liked playing possession football. We all love to see it when it works re WBA second half. Their teams still play that way to a certain extent ,but they don’t give away goals like we did by making silly decisions at the back time after time. There has to be a balance ,a time to play from the back and a time not to in my view. We didn’t do that against Bournemouth.

Amen to this. We were blown away unceremonially but it's ok;we are work in progress. Why do we accept this. We have enough talent to easily get a play off place but Martin's obsession will kill that off. Sorry but it has to be said. We can and should be good enough to get out of this league-and up not downwards.

I agree with Vetchonians post but to be honest, you are overstating our case a bit. Why should we be good enough? We don't have a god given right to be in the EPL, we don't have the money some other clubs can boast and we don't have anywhere near the biggest stadium in this league. There are several factors against us that, for me, mean your post is a bit wrong. We can be good enough, yes.

Jon. I like his hair and he has good teeth although rather prominent . He waves at our fans and calls us incredible. City is great too. As regards football,Inhavecto reply …not really. Not sure that is Indictable. Hope to catch you at Blackpool away. Don’t bottle it. Don’t be late.I might have missus in tow though as she wants to keep her on me. Do you have unfettered faith in Martin and if not, what doubts do you have and why. Were you happy after Bournemouth game .Were you positive

Yes, I do have faith in Martin. I think it is obvious what he is trying to do. We, as a collective fan base, have been crying out for us to return to the 'Swansea Way' for such a long time, and this is exactly what he's trying to do. They're starting to play the way that he wants and a number of opposing fans whom we've beaten have described us as the best team they've played all year. For the first time in a couple of years, I am genuinely excited to go watch us play, it's exciting and he's only just started. He'll get a transfer window for players he wants in January and will get rid of players he doesn't want. To heap so much criticism on him more or less through the entirety of his tenure doesn't seem fair. Of course I wasn't happy after Bournemouth, we had a absolute hammering, but that's going to happen, they're a class side and it was never likely we'd get anything from it. However, there's been huge improvements, we've picked up a lot of points in the last month and Dec looks like a month where we could pick up a lot more. There'll be a few of us going up to Blackpool, look forward to having a coffee. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Really looking forward to it, had a great day at the Huddersfield match, in the corner this time, bit further back as I don’t want him getting wet and cold down the front. Think we all forget, it’s just a game of football, doesn’t matter. Go along, have a shout, have a sing, go home and have an Indian. Happy days

He's on a massive learning curve himself, he's a young [very young] and relatively inexperienced in Management, we got to give him time, will he succeed or crash and burn, I hope its the latter for me being a Swans Fan, but who knows.

Mate, I’m from Neath, I’ve been up here 20 years and still got my accent, and proud of it, I don’t do court room posh. Don’t think Manc juries would appreciate it. Huddersfield isn’t that far away. May well go to that one [Post edited 12 Nov 2021 23:29]

More and more are not getting paid off. They are removed from their position and still get paid their contract, so when they get another job their pay stops. Hence no pay off.
