It’s called the round of last sixteen. That means the last sixteen teams are playing in this round. Wales and England have made it through. Nobody knows who England will play as yet. But as this thread moves on they will. Wales, due to their remarkable record in these euros again know already where they will play and against who.
Wales v Denmark Saturday 27th June 2021 Amsterdam arena, Netherregions Kick off 5pm
This game is being shown LIVE in the U.K. and on 121 other channels throughout the world. It is also being covered by BBC Radio and Talk Sport ( Where they will just talk about England )
Wales have beaten Denmark on six occasions, Denmark have beaten Wales four times. Neither side has ever drawn a game. The two most recent fixtures between the sides has resulted in wins for the Danes in the nations league thingy. Wales last beat Denmark in 2008. Nasty man Craig Bellamy scored the only goal in a friendly.
Denmark manager speaks Kasper Hjulmand, Denmark's head coach, has guided his players superbly to spark joyous scenes in the capital on Monday night. said: “I have huge admiration for these players. “I have seen how affected they have been but they have picked themselves up again. “I also have great gratitude to Denmark and the population. They have really taken care of us, and given us wings. Without all the fans, this would not have been possible.”
Well, you won’t have that many fans in Amsterdam mate.
The Danish have some weird etiquette, they hate queuing for anything, they disapprove of anyone smiling at their children, and they can get very confrontational if you don’t signal your intentions when you are on your bicycle. Yes, the danish have numerous first world problems. Michael Laudrup is Danish. He has a bike, children and gets other people to queue for him. Jan Molby is also Danish, he once cost the site owner a fair bit of cash when settling a bar bill after a Swansea fans gathering in Gloucester. Jan kindly settled it with him later, but was very much worse for wear. Top man.
There’s nothing really offensive about people from Denmark.

Mark Gower?
Have you ever actually watched the Swans play a game?
Thats the point I was making. Mark Gower slotted into the Swansea system so smoothly that his individual shortcomings were never an issue. He knew his job and passing with accuracy and making himself available.

That was a hammering. Wales were out classed. Its not surprising, Cymru passing accuracy has been poor for quite some time and only Bale can do raking passes. Passion and commitment are not enough once into the higher eschelons of the game. Denmark are not that good but several levels above Wales. We produce good players and athletes but bad teams.
Coleman played 5-3-2. Because our passing is so poor we get shredded when we overstretch out selves. Welsh players were giving away the ball for fun. Page learned this lesson today. With 4 at the back you cannot lose the ball without getting punuished. Mike England learned it Yorath learned it Mike Smith learned it Colemen learned it.
Wilson Brooks and Williams good young prospects playing in a very sloppy way.

Our passing fails under pressure, often under very little pressure so difficult for an international manager to change that technical weakness in players. The engine room of the side had a malfunctioning engine and we didn’t have the players or coach to come up with a winning formula.
We needed a leader on the pitch, a bit of X factor to make a difference and a manager who could get more out of the players as a team than the sum of the individual players. All 3 came together in 2016.
Looking at FIFA rankings we were ranked 12th in the tournament: we beat Turkey who were ranked 17th, drew with Switzerland who were ranked 9th and lost to Italy and Denmark who were ranked 6th and 7th. A predictable set of results based on FIFA rankings.

After the heaviest Welsh defeat for nine years, I don't think Rob Page should be thanking BBC Wales for the Welsh language motivational video.
Dear Beeb Caerdydd, I'm afraid the Welsh motivational video didn't really produce the performance I was looking for, any chance you can get me a rendition of 'Rule Britannia' for our next big game, and please don't translate it all into Welsh, I want the whole group to understand the message. Rob

If we're being honest half the battle was lost when it ended up being Denmark. We all knew it was going to take a gargantuan effort to get past them, because, as we saw last night, they're a very decent side. Unsurpisingly Hojberg is going to beat Joe Morrell in a midfield battle every day of the week.
What was frustrating was the manner of the defeat and the circumstances. They beat us without breaking a sweat, in essentially their 4th home game of the tournament, helped along by a proper homer ref. We didn't help ourselves either, admittedly- it was game over as soon as we gifted them the 2nd.
Oh, and what is the point of VAR if they're just going to let objectively wrong on field decisions stand? Yes it was a frustrated lunge but that is never, ever, a red card.

A little truth now.
Switzerland had not really started Turkey were abject Italy put out fringe players and even swapped their goalkeeper,as a final pyss take. They were in 1st Gear in a non synchromesh box. (Ask your dads ,lads.)
Denmark has a population of only 5.8 million and a pretty meaningless league system yet their players and strength is light years ahead and has been for years.

As opposed to Wales 3.2 million and meaningless league system.

I think that’s what he means. With proper technical coaching of young players we could produce players like Denmark do. I agree and would like to see the Swans try it. Technical excellence and passing skill throughout the club and no more Clement/Monk/Cooper crap.
The Welsh way was defined by Gary Speed. Passing accuracy and possession. He had made a difference. The FAW carried on professing the "Welsh way" then promptly went in an entirely different direction. It is a bit of misdirection. it is similar to 'taking the knee'. It was all about BLM then they changed the message away from BLM and tried to kid folk that nothing had changed.

Well if the FAW are made up of CCFC season ticket holders then it should be of no surprise to see similar tactic employed by the national team .

Did anyone else see a quick video of a hand ball in the Danish penalty area that flashed up on the screen in the first half? It was mentioned by the commentators or anyone else as far as I know.

Speed did well but success came from Coleman … a dirty word among some of our fans because he's local. He also used a real captain .. Ash to be the anchor and driving force behind the squad. Speed 5 wins 5 loses Coleman 19 wins 13 draws 18 loses (9 in the first 13 trying to carry Speeds legacy’ before ripping up the old script. Incredible wins and progress through the Euros. 2016.
