Anyone seen any clear guidance on how the lockdown is going to affect Welsh sport, thinking mainly of our football.

Think footballers will be covered by going to place of work.

Im certain England will follow.

We will never get out of this hole until we all wise up.When we have dummies looking to enjoy a last pisseups before lockdown as a priority you know we have deep social problems

Sad but very true.

We havent seen the worst of the second wave yet, we are just hiding from the virus at the moment.

This will cycle until hopefully we get a vaccine, then we have to hope it doesnt mutate quickly

I was reading the other day that it seems quite stable, it doesn’t mutate anywhere near as fast as seasonal flu which is good news because any potential vaccine will work for longer.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

No arguments from me. Thats why I say we are just hiding.

The '...hopefully we get a vaccine..' is just that there is no guarantees that anyone will find one. More hope than normal with about 100 different possible vaccines being worked on at the same time. Unprecedented number of organisations working on the same virus at the same time.

Still, once you put the virus under pressure that is when it is likely to mutate.

Cheery thought, now I think about it.

Oh we do know small amounts but far too many of us ignore what we do know.

Those who ignore the rules, go out and carry on as normal and even deliberatley break the rules, they'll probably survive but they'll kill others.

I might not agree with the rules but I do try to abide by them.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Confirmed ok for professional sports where the players/staff earn their living from the sport - all amateur sport will be suspended for the length of the firebreak.

The 1918 virus has no vaccine and it lasted for 18 months with very little in the way off information. We are already in month 9 and case number are well up on March but fatalities well down. Lockdowns might serve only to extend this possible 18 month virus shelf life period. Czechia completely missed the first wave through vigourous action but are suffering now like everyone else with the second wave.

It isnt quite that simple. Elite team sports Rugby and Football can continue. Other elite sportsmen like cyclists, judo, swimming, athletics cannon continue training. This is included in a question and answer on Wales Online.

Will professional or elite sports be allowed?
Sportspeople who work and earn a living through sport are allowed to continue working, and like everyone else they can leave home to do so if they cannot work from home.

So, the autumn rugby internationals, PRO14 and Cardiff City and Swansea matches will be unaffected. These sports have specific regular testing programmes in place. All participants, such as players, officials, coaches, and broadcasters, are there in a working capacity and will continue to be allowed.

However, the elite programme, overseen by Sport Wales, will be suspended during this circuit breaker period.

Every infectious disease in the past has been eradicated , by better hygiene. Clean water, clean bodies, sanitation, better diet and treatment.Vaccines in reality, have added very little after they were introduced, and no real improvements have been made with them.Common sense, discipline and responsibility will see the end of this and not science.

Unfortunately "common sense, discipline and responsibility " seems to be beyond some people.

We shouldn't all be tarred with the same brush you know!

"The Spanish Flu" is actually still around as one of the usual seasonal variants, it's just considerably less lethal now. That will in all likelihood happen with Covid eventually. It will become just as prevalent as other Coronaviruses.

The question is are we just continually delaying that eventuality by continued implementation of lockdowns. Is locking down those at the least risk of contracting serious problems as a result of it, and denying proper health care to those suffering from other ailments really the best way to go about it?

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

But if the virus is not contained then there will be little room in hospitals to treat other ailments.

Right now, annual cancer checks are being carried out by PHONE.

Killing the virus opens up beds for treatment.

Question is why these selfish batards are being allowed to put us in worse positions . Until we ALL unite ,nothing will change until the vaccine is available.Nothing.

Little change of that seeing demoes AGAINST even mask wearing

There are several here who would say the answer to the last question is no. The lockdowns are causing problems of their own.

The problem is the more people in hospital with coronavirus the less room there is for people with other illnesses. Back in April my consultant was moved onto coronavirus as were other doctors and nurses. It meant they could not do what they specialise in. You cannot say to coronavirus patients we cannot treat you and let them die. That is why keeping the cases as low as possible is needed and that will mean that certain things have to be done which sadly we didnt and are now paying for it. If we continue to do this we will end up continuing to end up every couple of months in lockdown
