Scrap the ineffective Senedd-Welsh Assembly on 19:52 - Jan 7 by Wingstandwood | They might not be around anymore but there are still quite a few, in the year 2021, still carrying resentment because the English crossed the Welsh border in 1277 with their swords and bow n' arrows. |
Actually I carry a bit of resentment for things done, not just by English royalty. I just accept I can't change things and have to live in the world I was born into. Living in the past won't help anything though I have wondered what the world would be like now if OGD hadn't stopped at Woodbury hill and turned back? But then, I also wonder what the world would look like if someone had killed Hitler before the NAzi's got going?

Scrap the ineffective Senedd-Welsh Assembly on 13:17 - Jan 7 by exhmrc1 | Todays figure is 1718 which is the lowest figure since 5 December other than the 3 days in December where no lighthouse lab figures were included. You can ignore the figures on 8, 14 and 15 December for that reason and 11468 cases on 17 December picking up the extra cases. Are the figures coming down the answer is yes. Positivity rates are also declining. However the figures arent coming down as much as expected as North Wales is increasing. Todays figure of 1718 is lower than 31 Dec a week ago which was 1831 so it is down by just over 100. What is likely to happen is the rate will drop lower for a few days when the lockdown takes effect. Afew days after that it will probably increase due to the effect of Christmas. |
Today's figure is 2487 a 45% increase on yesterday's figures. At least PHW are now increasing the number of tests. They are nearly back to the levels of testing they were doing before Christmas.

Yes it is race, a race to save lives, a race to get ahead of the virus, a race to get back to normal. Why does Drakeford not ask the British Army to help out if PHW cannot vaccinate people quickly enough.

I agree it is a race. It may not be a race between us and the other nations but it is a race between us and the virus. It's OK though, he's announcing his plans next week. Only 6 weeks after we knew for definite we would be running mass vaccinations and 10 months after they were likely to be needed.

And therein lies the exact problem. What's Drakeford's rush? He's a grey little man who gets paid regardless. The millions of people out there desperate to start working and earning or just living their lives again don't matter to him. There's no urgency at all. That journalist Will Hayward is asking questions others reporters would have buried! Nice to see health reporting like that. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/mark-drakefords-speech-full-toughe Interesting post from one in the comments section. Quote: "Great to see challenging questions from Will Hayward (again) Our first minister has no plan so couldn't give a vaccination target. Some simple figures for him to digest - in the thirty days since the vaccination has been available we have vaccinated an average of just under 1700 per day! If we can treble this figure to 5000 vaccinations per day, we will have vaccinated a further 110,000 people by the end of January! At the same rate 2/3 of Wales will be vaccinated by February 2022! Scotland intends to vaccinate 900,000 people by the end of January 2021 a statement of intent! Aneurin Bevan health board hasn't even published its vaccination centres yet Ashton Gate (Bristol) has been prepared to be a super vaccination centre since November last year! Just hope journalists like that keep up the pressure! There again it may be because Cardiff is now being affected negatively by Welsh Government policy... It's been the regional equivalent of a spoilt little child with the rest of black-sheep Wales ignored. The last journalist I can remember giving the Welsh Government a difficult time like that was SWEP's Susan Bailey who was an excellent campaigning figure. She showed far more concern for Swansea/SW Wales NHS than silent A.M's too afraid to rock the boat. Dai Lloyd A.M deserves a mention and credit also. Where were the others? Then, when a journalist starts asking more difficult questions they get cut off, whoever it is Gething or Drakeford, they move on to other people. This morning Drakeford said we weren't far behind England but the truth isnt quite that. We are behind and falling furhter behind without even a plan in place. The Senedd is months behind Scotland.

Wee Jimmy gets things done, even if they're mostly rubbish things. Drakeford comes across like some Parish vicar. Give him a jumble sale or raffle to take charge of and he'll probably manage OK. A pandemic? Well, we've seen the result.

No its not. Its like an abusive husband borrowing £100,000. Spending it all on hookers and coke. And then telling his wife she had a debt of £50,000. Please try to think. Indy Wales could borrow its own money like every other nation in the world.

To a certain degree I almost admire them. The moxie to work their way towards a safe political position despite vast shortcomings takes some doing. Geraint Davies (MP for Swansea West) is one of the most deeply stupid individuals I've ever had to interact with. Twice. Yet he's on £81,000 per year plus expenses so who's the idiot?

It's scary! Could you imagine being governed by that lot of backward-thinking incompetents with full devolution, 100% separation without a Westminster safety net? Thank God our NHS is one interconnected U.K concern and is under one umbrella enabling Welsh Patients to be sent to Birmingham for liver/HPB specialisation, to London Moorfield's for eye-surgery specialisation and other English hospitals for other specialties also. Could you imagine how many decades it would take a fully devolved Welsh Government to complete major reorganisation/restructure of a fully separated Welsh health service? The Welsh NHS as we know it would be no more! FFS it has taken them over twenty years to come to the conclusion that a desperately required relief road must be kicked into the long grass. Have you thought that they may be speaking slowly due to Welsh accent to help people pick up what they say. Both spent years out of Wales and Drakeford has been lecturing for years. I have American relatives and need to speak slowly to them as they find the accent difficult to follow as they say we tend to sing when we talk. I have had similar problems out in the USA. Years ago in work we had a Scottish typist who couldnt understand what I was dictating so went to writing everything. Drakeford's West Walian accent might well be why he is speaking so slowly as over the years he might have difficulties with students understanding him.

Sturgeon manages to speak slowly and clearly, without sounding like she's talking to a class of children with learning and hearing difficulties. Although, the Scottish accent is much easier to understand than the Welsh accent.
