Fans lay into Fernandes on 10:01 - Dec 3 with 5290 views | stowmarketrange | There is one reply saying “you have to take us back to where we belong.” I thought we were where we belong?Three seasons in the premier league over the last 23 years doesn’t mean that we belong there. I know we should have ambitions at maybe getting back up,but we have no divine right to be there. We are going back to what we’ve done best in the past in bringing through the youngsters in the hope that they progress and help our club too.

I'm guessing what they meant to say is take us back where you found us but still, you're absolutely correct, we have no divine right to be there.

The game has changed and it is very difficult to see how we can ever replicate being a continuous top flight club like in the last century when money then was not the key factor. There is a reason why Juventus, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Celtic, Man City and Liverpool are dominating their leagues and it is wealth. As things stand the days of Forest, Derby, QPR, Ipswich and all the rest being in contention for the title are extinct like dinosaurs.

True however money was not a factor as Fernandes et al spent a lot of it. They just didn't spend it wisely.

When I first started watching Rs we were a good , solid 3rd Division South side. So where do we belong? There are 12 founding teams still in the Prem.

or you can show ambition like Leicester have and move from a kippy filbert street into an all purpose revenue driven stadium with good facilities and become the number 2 team in England. It can be done. Its unlikely for us though as we just don't seem to have a large fan base.

Fans lay into Fernandes on 15:30 - Dec 3 with 4782 views | terryb | Where do we belong? The club insist that Queens Park Rangers were formed in 1882, which would give us 137 seasons prior to this season. The breakdown of which league we were in is:- Top Division - 23 seasons Second level - 30 seasons Third level - 40 seasons Outside the Football League - 44 seasons Outside the Football league does include 6 seasons for World War Two, so I wouldn't argue against anyone saying that those seasons should be included in the Third Level rather than outside the Football League. Anyhow, we have spent 61.31% of our time at a lower level than we currently play & only 16.79% of our time at the top level, with playing twice as much in the third level than the top! That is, if you include the war years. And yet, some maintain that we naturally belong in The Premier!

The county of Leicestershire has a population of just over 1 million people and just 1 football club.Greater London has about 10 times the population but a lot more football clubs for the population to choose from.West London has 4 teams in a small area,3 of whom are doing better than us currently. We can’t make people go to games against their will.We do only have a certain amount of idiots who will part with their hard earned cash to watch football in a cramped, outdated stadium, but we are hamstrung in our attempts at getting a new one.And also we can’t spend enough money to get us the players to get us competing consistently for promotion yet. As soon as we produce or develop such players, bigger fish come along and want to steal them from us for virtually peanuts. I think we may have to get used to being roughly where we are for a few years in the hope of brighter days to come.Or the occasional day in the sun.

Flavio and Bernie were desperate to sell before the transfer window shut. Had Fernandes not turned up Flavio and Bernie would have sold to Mittal who offered a realistic price for a club that had just been promoted, needed better players, new stadium, better training facilities... I have no doubt that if Mittal had become our owner with Amit as chairman, we would be a thriving premier league club.

In the past week we have had "Get him out of our club" "Warburton to be sacked" "Should never play for us again" and while Tone deserved criticism, now is not currently relevant. They didn't want to sell to the Mittals, iirc.

Come on, this is Flavio and Bernie we're talking about here; their word is hardly their bond. Simple deduction will tell you that to maximise revenue they had to sell before the transfer shut otherwise the valuation would fall. Fernandes was still involved in F1 at the time and had already made advances towards Norwich and West Ham so he was an easy target. Had Fernandes not bitten then I imagine they would've have had to re-consider Mittal's offer. All irrelevant now of course as ancient history but I will always apply a bit of logic to a given situation before I take anything that Bernie or Flavio say for granted. They don't want to spend any money. FFP does not have an impact on money spent on Warren Farm. It's been over a year since we won the case at the Supreme Court.

It rather depends on when you were born and the times you grew up in. When I entered my teens in 1973 we got promoted to the top division and up to 1997 we spent more time there then in any other division. Playing the top teams was the norm so until the end of the last century that was what I was used too. The last 20 years have been very difficult to stomach compared to what I grew up with. It feels like I have swapped the club I love for an inferior duplicate. When you watch old TV programmes repeated on ITV like Minder and The Sweeney and see walls daubed with QPR slogans and references to our great club it reminds me of what we once had in the 70's when we were seen as one of London's top clubs. Watching Porridge last week, Fletch was reading the Sun and the back page was all about QPR and Gerry Francis. Those were the days when QPR match reports featured on the back pages of newspapers and we were all the news and not just Man Utd, Leeds, Liverpool etc. Now you will never see us on the back page unless there is some sort of scandal and any match report may consist of a couple of lines somewhere within the paper. I fear those good days will never return in my lifetime as we messed up when there was one glimmer of hope when we briefly had some money.

You *may* be right about them not wanting to spend any money, but if that were the case, why would they be fighting a case in the Supreme Court? That can't be cheap. Here is the latest update I know of: https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-update-warren-farm-linford-christie-stad Key quote: "There is now an expectation that building work will commence early next year".
| "Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1." |
