To be fair he's one of the best wingers around

This might have legs. Extremely worried.

As if there weren't enough reasons to not like Salford already.

Wonder if Hill being sacked has changed Hendo's mind on wanting to finish his career at Dale?

Poll: Now the club has refused to move on sesaon ticket prices what will you now do?

They’ve made one bid already that has been rejected... apparently

Highly unrealistic.

The man makes a fortune off his Herbalife business, I doubt an extra few hundred quid a month will really entice him to Salford.

Why would a 34 year old man, who is club captain drop down a division when he's already said he will finish his career at Rochdale.

Salford need to have a bid accepted before finding out whether or not he wants to make the move.

Good point.
Well let's hope they don't give him that decision to make!

He's our only class player and one we are unlikely to replace. I feel we're in for a tough season anyway but losing Henderson, who's basically never injured and has stopped getting suspensions, would be a massive blow. If we sell him then the transfer fee needs to surpass the difference in tv & other monies between League One and League Two.

It will be an undisclosed fee anyway.
Seriously enough I'm worried about this one because Pete O'Rourke isn't normally wrong.
And while Hendo might have been been relatively happy it might not take too much to unsettle him.
When does the window close!?

This is a big one - the board CANNOT get this one wrong.

Quite simply the board have to stay strong and reject any bid that comes in no matter how eye watering.

Get this one wrong and I fear a large percentage of the fanbase will turn.

While O’Rourke is rarely wrong, he is fed info by agents rather than club sources. So, while there is no doubt Salford are interested, it won’t be them who have let O’Rourke know.

He's irreplaceable for Dale and his goals have kept us in league 1 - and will probably keep us in league 1 next season. We wouldn't go out and buy a 20 goal a season striker. If Salford offered a daft amount like £1 million - and they could afford that with their billionaire backer - we wouldn't turn it down.

Do clubs not speak to 'Sky Sports Understands...' style websites too? If its good for agents to grease the wheels then I don't see why clubs wouldn't try it too.

If a club wants rid of someone, they might.

But I know that O’Rourke runs off agent contacts. I know this because I have spoken to agents who slip him info.

Don't clubs or intermediaries usually sound out the player's agent to gauge interest before they make an offer?

Sadly this may come down to economics. One year left on his contract, if they offered us £300,00 to £400,000 I could see him going. Maybe it will depend on salary offers and which league Henderson wants to play his football in.

Exactly what I mean, or more politely 'sounding out' . I know it is supposed to be against the rules but I've read a number of football related books that suggest it is widespread.

Let's speculate with figures.

Say he is on £3000 a week at Dale for one more season and Salford offered him £5000 a week for two/three seasons that would be a nice final pay day. Especially as he would be playing at a lower standard of football, which may be a bit easier on him.

It is and manifests in many forms. Even in articles on football websites.

He has effectively been the difference between us playing league 1 and league 2 for the past 2 seasons.

What is the drop in income from the EFL/TV rights should we drop a division?

What is the supporter backlash likely to be, especially those who have shelled out for the (greatly priced) season tickets?

What would a decent replacement(s) cost, both to sign and to remunerate?

Have Salford detected a weak point in our financial position that they can exploit? I am thinking of the Adshead reported initial fee and the underwhelming feeling it engendered.

Is it likely that Hendo could leave us and our respective clubs swap places for next season?

I expect that the reality is that everything, ultimately, is for sale.

Poll: What is it to be then?

Now would be a fantastic time for us to renegotiate a new contract with an additional 12 months.

That would tie him for the remainder of his career, see off potential suitors & ensure he achieves the status of all time leading goal scorer.

I was talking to a friend of mine who was at the cricket club when the players went back from their first day of training.

He was watching the bleep test and Hendo was about 3 or 4 levels ahead of everyone else, by far the fittest, healthiest member of the squad.

I don't think he wants the easy life, if you look at all his Instagram photos it's all about pushing himself and playing to the highest standards.

If Salford were in League One I would be worried by this rumour, I just don't see Hendo going for it.

Also, as mentioned he's part of the Herbalife Millionare Team - these guys earn upwards of around £50,000 per year from Herbalife alone, alongside his decent wage at Rochdale I don't see him dropping down a level just for the money.

I agree with you, but the temptation of an extra few hundred thousands at the tail end of a career would be a tempting offer.

Obviously I do not want to go and agree with what Judd posted.
