Asoro on 23:13 - Sep 15 by jasper_T | I prefer seeing him at centre forward than out on the wing, just as Sunderland did. Better for the team to have him up against centrebacks, threatening to run in behind. At least makes space that way. Put him against a fullback with or without support and he doesn't ever seem to get anywhere. Tracking back limited, too (but better than McKay for sure). |
Maybe that was the reason Sunderland went down to League One Play an eight stone weakling at centre forward Unbelievable

By most accounts he was one of their brighter players through the second half of the season. They were a shocking side.

If he was one of their brightest players for Sunderland in the second half of the season, then why did not Coleman pick him on a regular basis then I don’t know in how you watch a game of football For me there are players I pick out for their excellence in the way they play the game and make a note of that player Then there are others that continually make the wrong options and feel they shouldn’t be in football Last season I watched Asoro playing for Sunderland in 3 games In one game he even scored a goal against Fulham, but there after you wondered when he was going to be substituted In the other two when he came on as a substitute, the number of times (as you have seen already when playing for the Swans) he took the wrong option and lost the ball was just unbelievable for a professional footballer I’m convinced he is not a Potter signing but another of the Director of Football’s signing

Asoro on 23:07 - Sep 15 by bermudajack | His head tells him “I can take this payer on” the reality is he can’t take on anything without losing possession... how he is better than Narsingh, Dyer or even James is beyond me... Question.... will we ever see Narsingh, Bony, Dyer play again? Or does their Premier League contracts and win/goal/ appearance bonus payments prevent this due to us not having a pot to pizz in ??? |
Reason he was on before Dyer is because of his ability to play upfront I think. I hope and believe we will see them boys playing again. I don't think the bonus payments come into it. It's about putting them in the shop window and also about needs. I'm sure that GP will see the need at some point, with these young players not quite having the nous needed yet, although they are all doing their best and giving it a good shot.

I never saw him play for Sunderland, beyond a few highlights from that Fulham game. The accounts I mention are mostly Sky commentators tbh. Did have one conversation with a Sunderland fan who said he wouldn't have been confident going in to a League One season with Asoro leading their line, though. Potter and Macaulay said they had been watching him for years.

We've played Dyer as a striker in the premier league and he's done ok, not picki g Nathan over this boy is just silly, 4here must be reasons we don't know.

Exactly Without a doubt Dyer should play over Asoro A player that’s played in the Premier League and was part of the squad that won the Premier League title albeit with Leicester, against a player that doesn’t know the basics of playing football, is absolute bonkers It has to be something else other than picking the strongest squad for a game | | | | Login to get fewer ads

OK, but why pu him on the bench, if you know you're not allowed to bring him on in case the club have to pay bonuses? That's just silly and you're basically saying that GP isn't in charge of picking his team. How much are bonuses likely to be anyway? Few grand for appearance 10k for goal? That's fck all if you not playing week in week out mun

That something else could be the fact that we have to play three tough games in a week. Let’s wait and see.

Possibly, but if he thought he had a player that could help the team more in the here and now and has him there on the bench next to him, he surely would pick the one he thinks will help him win that specific match to come off the bench to help, especially when the boys are struggling out there. I do not believe there are people telling GP who he can and cannot bring on. That's ridiculous.

That is not what Potter has said I can’t remember the exact words said by Potter but something along the lines of that he would play players that are left at the club after the transfer window was shut I hope you are not saying that Asoro is better than Dyer or come to that Routledge as well???

I don't think it's any of that... It's not that he would prefer to pick younger players who are going to be at the club long term, and it's not that he can't pick others who have bonuses attached. Surely it's obvious that Asoro was the guy GP thought could do the best job required against that Forest side yesterday?

Well that’s one decision that Potter got wrong then If Potter thought as you said that he was the right player to play against Forrest. Then why did he not pick him to start the game and only brought him on as a substitute at half time because of an injury to a player

At the time I mean. He chose the man he thought he needed at the time. For whatever reasn, he believed that Asoro would do a better job for the team than Dyer, when he needed him.

Absolutely spot on In today’s game when a player loses the ball, it’s expected that he does his utmost to retrieve the ball or at least try to close that player down Mind you, he’s not the only player in the Swansea squad that does what you say Fer has done his fair share of the same
