Aberavon Beach - Quick Question 19:39 - Jun 28 with 9160 views | monmouth | Been 50 years since i've been there so I've no idea what the score is now. My friend is thinking of taking her two young children on her own to Aberavon from Brizzle on Saturday if sunny so they can play with sand and water and also get a view of the airshow without having to deal with Swansea crowds and traffic/ manage buggy etc. Is that a sensible strategy for at least a view of the planes? Is the beach a decent one for the kids (6 and 3year olds)? Ta in advance.

Aberavon Beach - Quick Question on 20:02 - Jun 28 with 6333 views | N_T_J | I use the Lido gym, so go there everyday, the front looks lovely they have invested a lot of money over last few years. There is a outdoor pool there and a park, its heaving there most days. I did see council putting signs up for the laybys this week, they are 2 hours parking and no return in 4 hours, so use one of the big carparks thats dotted up and down the front.

Aberavon Beach - Quick Question on 21:19 - Jun 28 with 6206 views | Humpty | Mon, It's absolutely fine for kids, apart from the sea and beach you have a kids park, paddling pool and various eateries. I usually watch the airshow from there and I'll be doing so on the weekend. Further away than if you were sat by County Hall obviously, but still a pretty good view. I've seen the Red Arrows fly down the beach very low. Pretty impressive when you're directly beneath them. I almost ducked.
Aberavon Beach - Quick Question on 21:26 - Jun 28 with 6190 views | magicdaps10 | It's a nice beach and there is a lovely splash pool for the little ones. It will be busy but plenty if parking if you are happy too pay, council car parks are now £2. Would recommend that she takes food with her. Wise choice in regards to air show.

A load of us watched the air show in the beer garden of The Four Winds a few years back. Boiling weather, fantastic day out. The view obviously isn’t as good as from the Swansea side but the crowds are much more manageable. Shed-loads of Blues on the jukebox, cheap Newcastle Brown and the Battle of Britain flight’s Merlin engines roaring across the bay. What more could you want out of life, eh?

I can well understand them being there as the road is nice and straight, just right for the speed merchants, but they're a right pain in the arse.

Aberavon Beach - Quick Question on 23:49 - Jun 28 with 5956 views | controversial_jack | Me and Mrs CJ were there early evening, tide was almost in and it was glorious.Water surprising warm , considering it's still only June, but not many taking advantage of the sea. I didn't have my bather so just paddled a bit and then had an Evans pie and chips in Francos. Chips lovely, but those pies have gone really skimpy with their meat
Aberavon Beach - Quick Question on 23:50 - Jun 28 with 5951 views | majorraglan | As kids we would go down the beach regularly in the summer, but the place them seemed to go downhill and lost its appeal. The last few years the council have made an effort and its now a nice place to spend a few hours. Defo worth a visit.

Full of roid heads and the working classes, yes. But apart from that its a beautiful place in this weather. I enjoy taking my electric bike there. Might even watch the airshow from there instead of swansea. Does anyone know.do the display aircraft fly down the beach or is it not as good as the Swansea view? I love a good airshow, just booked my tickets for Farnborough.

Aberavon Beach - Quick Question on 09:19 - Jun 29 with 5707 views | moonie | What these electric bikes like ,Paul. Cycling is getting harder now for me and lady moon but it seems it's like cheating to me. When we get back for this holiday we re off cycling in north Wales ( out some money into the economy see) .Lot of hills though which an electric bike would solve

The latest gen are more powerful and go further on the battery charge. Going up hills is a breeze...people in my village think I’m super fit 😂 Discovered the joys on a Venetian island a few weeks ago...won’t be going back to my road bike. Recommended.

Aberavon Beach - Quick Question on 10:22 - Jun 29 with 5626 views | N_T_J | Down there this morning having a coffee, and got chatting to a ex Fireman called Gary, he was swimming in there and he said the water was crystal clear. Then i pull in to the Lido gym to see that Burger King was 'done over' last night, so its all taped off and old bill still there. Cant have it all can we 🙈

Aberavon Beach is certainly not full of roid heads. I go there about three times a week all year round.
