OUT WITH A DEAL EATING OUR CAKE AND LOVING IT suck it up remoaners
And like a typical anti democracy remoaner he decided the will of the people should be ignored the minute the democratic result was in total fecking hypocrite 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Despite it being voted in to law by the commons the spineless two faced remoaner MPs have totally abandoned any morals and decided to ignore the will of the British people.
It will be remembered and no election or referendum will ever be the same again in this country.
The one thing that will come is a massive surge in the popularity of UKIP or a similar party in the future who stand for the 52%.
Happy Days.

Ah! I see Parliament legislated in 2018 to repeal the 1972 Act, and in 2020 the United Kingdom ceased to be a member of the EU in accordance with and by virtue of that Act (albeit amended by further legislation of Parliament), demonstrating that the previous Parliament (of 1972) had not bound its successor.
So parliament wasn't Sovereign from 1972 until after the referendum in 2018.
Parliament could have voted at any time subsequent to the 1972 act to repeal it., because it has been sovereign the entire time.
If UKip had won a general election, we would have left without the need for a referendum, because of parliamentary sovereignty.
Just be grateful that thanks to people like Dominic Cummings, Matthew Elliot and Zac Goldsmith the UK is no longer run by unelected bureaucrats.

Do you mean unelected bureaucrats or unelected politicians? Bojo, love him or hate him was elected (eventually) as was May but how many of the electorate ever voted for an EU President? Groundhog day again.
It all comes down to opinion and your own personal perspective I guess but (like many others) I don't think that any Parliament that is legally bound to follow rules laid down by a supranational organisation is sovereign, once we have left, properly left that is, not this halfway house, then we will be fully sovereign again. Even political experts disagree on what sovereignty means but by this definition https://www.britannica.com/topic/sovereignty the EU being the ultimate overseer means Westminster is not sovereign, not doubt you disagree, as you are entitled to do.
It really is time to stop this nonsense. This thread should expire, should be an ex thread.

If you are using the President of the EU as the example, then its fair to say none of us voted for PM May, nor PM Johmson.
Does your logic also apply to the nation of Wales ? Sure to ... right ?

Your logic is flawed our Prime Minister is selected from our elected MPs. As you know the EU President is not an elected MEP but is appointed after horse trading by the 27 EU countries. Their name is then proposed to the EU parliament and in one horse race was voted in by just getting over 50% of the vote. The electorate of the EU cannot vote the president in or out of office hardly democratic.

May and Johnson were elected MP's and both had to face a general election, Von der Leyen wasn't even a candidate originally but still got made President, even then she only scraped over the bar.
Kilk, you often use voting percentages to say the majority didn't choose something, well usually you say something like 58% didn't vote (insert whatever) well in the Welsh elections, how many didn't vote for Labour, well for anybody in fact....54%. Does that make the government illegitimate? Of those who voted Labour got 34.7% of the vote that amounts to around 503,000 in a country of over 3.2 million, Plaid got around 300,000 votes. Hardly a stonking mandate!
But yes, at least the Welsh first minister is elected by the people even though Drakeford hasn't yet faced an election as leader.

Drakeford doesn’t need an election. He’s been ordained on raw animal magnetism and sheer force of will.
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

President of the EU Commission if you want to be pedantic. The EU commissioners all 27 of them run the EU as you well know. The EU parliament just rubber stamp their decisions. Even when the parliament votes to reject their budget or accounts they just carry on anyway.
The EU Commission is the executive branch of the EU

With a bit of luck he'll be out on his lughole when he does.

Bookies now taking odds on what continent we’ll be joining next. Bless em.
Someone should tell that silly bugger we aren’t leaving Europe. As deputy editor she should know that, especially if she is experienced enough to have been on the ground during the fall of the Paris commune in 1871.

Remember the old animated tv advert about stopping on yellow grid, the giant hand looms....and day now the giand hand is coming, it's going to pluck the UK out of the sea and drop us off.. somewhere!

If you read beyond the headline it’s pretty obvious what she’s on about, even if it is a lame pointless piece. Besides, using the EU instead of Europe in the headline wouldn’t make any sense.
A strange thing for people to get worked up over.
