Selfish bastards, not seeing my kids for the first time ever at Christmas, as a way of compensation I'm booked to fly to Berlin on Boxing Day, do they not realise that without customers they wouldn't have a job to strike over, zero sympathy from me, glorified bloody waitresses.

I'm non political. or try to be anyway.

Interesting discussion though..

I'll jump back on my fence now.

Fair play, although I'm dubious that there is such a thing as being nonpolitical. I'm reminded of this quote from an Indonesian author and activist--

'Just as politics cannot be separated from life, life cannot be separated from politics. People who consider themselves to be non-political are no different; they've already been assimilated by the dominant political culture--they just don't feel it any more.'
Pramoedya Ananta Toer

I think there's something in the idea that the effort to be nonpolitical is perhaps political in itself, because it avoids conflict and is therefore in implicit support of the status quo.

Re posts from people saying it's ridiculous to accept a job and then agitate for better conditions. It's only ridiculous if you believe in the absolute authority and justice of the capitalist class.

Might be safer there than here/there. Saw the Met police running about yesterday on telly news protecting changing of the guard, they put up a tin sign stating no entry to motor vehicles on Horse Guards parade. Thank fck. That'll stop a 40 tonne vehicle getting though.....
Have a good time away, be alert but enjoy it. Happy Christmas LB.
