I wonder if in hindsight they rushed Morrison back a bit too soon last time and they're being a bit more cautious this time? |

I'm pleased when they're desperate to get on. Jonathan Varane also came rushing up when they put Colback on and the coach had to say, no Jack. His face fell a bit... |

Bearing in mind they'll be playing each other too it's a tall order. Derby haven't picked up a single point since Boxing Day. We had one point more at this stage of last season in third from last place. But we had to win eight out of our following matches including against Leeds (h) as well as away at Leicester, Swansea, Bristol City and Coventry and that tricky home win against relegation rivals Birmingham. I still can't quite believe we did that! |

Weird with handballs. He did get most decisions right but he did miss a couple of blatant Michael Jordans from them as well as the Alfie one. I thought the Dunne pen could've been given too as they pulled his shirt so hard you could see bare shoulder. Also I think a couple of bookings for them might have calmed them down in the second half when they got very physical. There's light touch and there's invisible. Overall good though. Didn't make it all about him and kept the game moving. |

It depends. Blacburn really upped their physicality in the second half and Lloyd is both stronger and faster which helps against those teams. Kolli reads the game better and is stronger in the box, passing and shooting. More often than not Marti is good at choosing the best striker for the opponents. |

Bit harsh. Nourry would have some say in Morgan. But it seems those who are negatively biased against Nourry blame him for the failures and credit others for the successes. We don't know if Marti, for example, wanted Madsen. The fact is that things are much more dynamic than under Les. He has made mistakes, e.g Santos but he's rectifying them by putting him on loan. Our emphasis is on younger players - I have much more faith that our academy will benefit the first team. I don't care if they joined us at eight or 18 really as long as they can make the transition. Not saying he's proven himself yet but I'm surprised that you're so negative as you're usually one of the more balanced posters. |

Yes but the difference is unlike last summer we've got a settled GK plus back up, we've got several striking options (I don't think we could say that before about Kolli and Lloyd). We've got a decent number of CBs but may need one more to replace Edwards. Our CM is much stronger with Varane and Morgan to add to Field and Colback. We've got Dembele instead of Willock. Last summer it was hard to think what was more essential. This summer fullbacks are essential but apart from that it's strengthening/back up rather than complete overhaul. |

Yes, spot on. Very neat and tidy but doesn't seem to have much dynamism. He plays like he's not that fussed about winning or losing. |

Yeah. Off the top of my head these puppy farms seem to benefit the elite - your Cole Palmers - who are likely to break into the first team of these puppy farm clubs. But not much anything below that who just seem to miss out on the chance of regular men's football for one club which can really develop them e.g. Ashby. |

Good summary Simmo. One thing that could be positive is his nous in realising he was designated puppy farm material and his detrrmination not to just take the cash but to go to a club that has a pedigree, albeit recent, of giving young players a pathway into the first team and developing them along the way. I'm sure he's right that clubs are going to invest more effort into players that are 'theirs'. Bit concerned about the existing injury. |

Looks like we're working on the future rather signing overpriced experienced players in Jan. Vale for instance would be out of contract in June. |

It's on the offish but he's currently injured. Anyone know more about the injury? [Post edited 3 Feb 23:22]

I've been on here this long I sometimes feel like my prostate's playing up! |

Not necessarily. I bet these clubs wanting to get over the line are offering silly contracts plus promotion bonuses would be massive. Then you either get Prem wages or half your contract paid off and start again. |

Which is what lots of footballers do. Doesn't mean he's anything like the odious Robinson. It also doesn't mean that he's lying when he says he loves it here. But which player would pass up a very real chance of winning promotion. I think he'll be back in the Championship soon. Doesn't mean he shouldn't enjoy a promotion/the chance to play at a higher level. |

Totally unfair. Jimmy has never acted as if he's too good for us or so much better than his team mates. He's entitled to move on. He's not even like Manning and BOS who pretty much downed tools in their last season. He's also not the first player to leave and I'm sure we'll find a way to win without him. |

I thought we did enough in the second half for a draw. We lost it in the first half. For whatever reason Chair is not back to his best and just wasn't covering back or causing much trouble to their defence so Tandanga pushed up so high at times he was almost a wingback. It's a bit worrying but I think it's happened before that missing pre-season makes a big difference. Let's hope that's all it is. Field moved across to cover leaving a gaping hole in the middle which they exploited with their crosses into a box almost empty of hooped shirts. We looked much more threatening down that side when Saito came on and their defence stopped pushing up. Fox had a poor game, particularly for their second but he's been decent recently so give him a bit of a free pass. Cook is understandably not match fit but that will come. Impressed with the Yang cameo . Lovely move and shot. We need a bit of luck to get back on track. Things didn't quite for us when we had our purple patch. Another day they would. |

Lovely ball from Edwards to Smyth which leads to a corner but doesn’t create anything. |
