yup well aware of that, hence way Aampshire played the occasional game in Bournemouth.

Also the original county name was Southamptonshire which went west to bournemouth and christchurch and as far east as portsmouth.

I've long thought they should bring that county name back tbf

Do we agree with this prediction??

I'd bite your hand off to finish on 27pts, personally i think we're going to be on 5 or less mid november if we keep the fraud of a manager we have right now, and i genuinely wouldn't be massively shocked if went into the Liverpool game still on 1pt

It's really not daft though, just shows how the two teams viewed each, and on our side it was generally a positive feeling towards them (and for me at least it still is).

I know this might sound weird but the fact the new forest is between us makes Bournemouth feel like it's in a different country to me, it doesn't really feel that "close", and you combine that with the fact it's in a different county, it's always been a nice town to go to and a very, very different demographic to Southampton and it's really hard to dislike them.

80s and 90s you’d get the half time score over the tannoy, pompey losing massive cheer, Bournemouth winning another cheer.

Absolutely no animosity towards them from anyone I knew, in fact most like them. I also find it really cringeworthy when people call them boscome

I was west stand by where the players came out that day, can’t say I remember a massive amount about the game to be honest, think my main memory is an old mush shouting at the players as they went down the tunnel they should have had their hot chocolate after the game

Probably cause they work themselves up for no reason at all, put a load of pressure on themselves and then bottle it.

All for some absolutely bizarre idea this game somehow means something more than playing swindon, yeovil or brighton.

I hadn't realised that in the last two games bournemouth have played a Russell Martin side the scorelines have been 4-0 and 5-0 in their favour.

One of my cherries mates pointed this out, and also pointed out a third of those goals had come from mistakes his sides had made passing around at the back.

Maybe he'll have learned, maybe...

Not going to this one due to not being able to get a train home after.

To be honest i'm not that fussed as despite qualifying i've been there a fair few times and would rather go to an interesting game instead

Bournemouth are a good side, think we'll be lucky to get anything out of it to be honest, hopefully Martin has decided that his JFK football (back and too the left) needs to change.

Southampton V Ipswich Town The Preview
at 11:08 20 Sep 2024

We will pass it around a lot at the back, look pretty good for the first 30mins but create no real chances.

Somewhere around the 31minute mark we will give the ball to one of their strikers who will score.

We will then come out after the second half and continue to make 3million passes across the midfield and defence that go absolutely nowhere, and our strikers will be permanently bound to the wings and create nothing.

Some time mid second half we will concede goals 2 and 3. It's at this point i'll leave for the pub.

The full time whistle will go sometime around the point we're reaching the pub, we will have had 70% possession and zero shots on goal.

Martin will come out after the game and say how well we played, how he's learned a lot, and how we were the best side for 30mins which counts for a lot.

WE MARCH DOWN!

Top 3 things about being in the Prem
at 11:06 20 Sep 2024

1. Our influencers now have the biggest stage to show themselves to be noddy tw*ts

2. We get to go back to the pub a lot earlier due to the 3-0 rule

3. You can now engage in HILARIOUS office bantz with the plastics who wear replica shirts and clap at their tv's at the weekend

Oh wait... none of that is good is it?

Benefits - essential safety net or invitation to abuse?
at 13:16 19 Sep 2024

I'd hazard a guess every single person on this forum has claimed benefits at some point in their lives, or has a family member that has.

Even if they get abused - and they do - it's by a tiny number of people. They should probably be increased to be honest.

If you're going to go after "cheats" then go after the rich c*nts that avoid tax instead, or the companies like Amazon who don't pay their fair share.

What was congestion like yesterday ?
at 17:13 17 Sep 2024

Had no problems with congestion personally, but i just turned right from the northam and walked down coach alley and over the bridge, the cut through st mary's to town.

I guess if you don't know where you're going you'll probably try and take the more "direct" route over the foot bridge and down old northam road, but that's always going to be busier.

5 Things About Saturday
at 22:56 16 Sep 2024

1. Saints Brass were great, properly moving performance from them and I never thought a song by queen - a band I don’t really like - could move me that much

2. The clap for Elijah was great, as was the beers after. Said it to Nick there but it meant the world to us.

3. The northam “wall” is f*cking awful, the club have done the rails on the cheap and it feels less safe than standing without them. Also our song repertoire is so bad it makes me not want to sing.

4. Dibling is a hell of a player, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we lose him in January, he’s going to the top so enjoy him whilst we can.

5. That’s the worst United side I can remember seeing since the Ron Atkinson days, the fact we got turned over relatively easily by them really doesn’t bode well

I'm about as far from a prawn sandwich person as you're going to get mush, but I also have standards and when every song is about the blue few it's just sh*t.

Yeah but the difference now is the away fans are over there so gives you something to interact with.

Personally i can't keep going back to the northam "wall" as that's probably going to end with me giving up on going to games. It's just full of the worst kind of saints fans who i try and avoid given half the chance.

It's actually really hard to explain just how bad it is if you've not been there, a mix of the worst soccer am banter, obsessing over the skates and then people just stood there in silence.

If singing about the skates non stop is good atmosphere i think i'd prefer to sit in silence to be honest.

Genuinely considering moving to the Chapel to be honest, as i'm not sure i can handle the inbetweeners "BANTZ", moaning and genuinely strange people around us

Moving the away fans was one of the biggest mistakes the club has made to be honest. To think we'd have 6k people who want to stand and make noise all game is naive at best, to think they don't need the away fans to interact with is just dumb.

Yesterday was my first game in the new "wall" as i was away for Forest and my take aways with are that I knew within about 3 minutes i was going to need to move out, it's considerably worse than the Itchen North was, weirdly obsessed with the blue few (i counted four different songs about them in 6minutes in the first half).

Also the layout of the "rails" means it feels way too cramped and i feel for the nippers in there because there's no way they can see if people are all stood, and if they stand on the seats to get a view then it's actually more dangerous for them

Saints Fans Asked To Clap For Elijah At Manchester United Game
at 12:33 15 Sep 2024

Just want to say a massive thanks to all those that joined in yesterday, nick and Sam Elijah’s parents were absolutely moved by it, and it really was touching to see the ground (including united) pay their respects.

Was a properly hard day all round, and the football felt completely back seat to me (thankfully as the score was crap).

I think the moment that hit me the most was Saints brass outside the ground playing his favourite song.
