Why did the game go ahead? Is it because the FA Cup is so low on the list of priorities that everyone just wanted to get it out of the way?
It did feel like a one man demolition job by Ashby, but given the context which you outline (by far from our strongest team, and Leicester better than us) you can't blame him alone. As pointed out in the forum, we scored two very good goals (which is no small thing as we simply couldn't score earlier in the season).
Let's hope this result doesn't interrupt our momentum in the league. |

Agree that now, if ever, might be a good opportunity for us to take the FA cup seriously. However, we need to keep in mind that most of the footballing world is not taking it seriously (Bramall Lane was almost empty on Thursday night). |

Things seemed to have unravelled quickly. When going up teams need to build on what they have. Instead Leicester lost Maresca to Chelsea.
It will be interesting to see how things develop. The fans would like Leicester to consolidate in the Premiership, but perhaps they will become a yoyo club like Norwich, Leeds or Burnley (assuming Leicester don't get tied down by PSR). |

I defer to you on how the club should handle communications, and how they have created their own problems. Perhaps I don't expect much as I remember the pre-internet days when lack of communication was the norm.
Wild mood swings are to be expected from football fans. Unfortunately this outlook seems to affect boardrooms too as we regularly read articles saying such-and-such a manager has two games to save his job.
I think it was reasonable to expect that we would be off to a flying start once Cifuentes had a pre-season after a bit of miracle-working last season. However this season it's not just integrating new players that's been a problem, it's that key defensive players have been injured, and during that long winless spell we didn't have a reliable goal-scorer either. Not to mention Chair's absence.
I would like to think we can take advantage of Luton's problems, but it never quite seems to work out like that. Also, as SimplyNico points out, they do have some good forwards. |

In the first half, those through balls of Swansea's, combined with a footballing black hole (Fox and Paal) on our left, really killed us. Swansea had worked out how to deal with our low-lying defence and had a field day. We can only pray that Cook's injury is not too serious. |

Agree that it's often more difficult to watch on a stream as it can be more difficult to read the pattern of the game (although I do prefer the side view you get on TV rather than watching from the home or away end).
Yes, I feared for us earlier in the season, my only hope being that we would rally when injured players like Colback and Clarke-Salter returned. The fact that we have picked up steam without them is impressive. Btw, aren't the wild mood swings part of the condition of being a football fan?
That Boxing Day record is an absolute shocker when you think that in that time we have had Jago, Sexton, and Venables as managers. Maybe it's the curse of Alec Stock? |

I am not surprised that Cifuentes went defensive as we had nothing up front (until, out of the blue, Celar, Kolli and Field stepped up to score in recent weeks). On top of that we were also missing key players in defence and midfield. I am a little bit surprised by Andrew Scherer's observation of our low possession statistics in games we have won when you include last season, but I guess this shows that Cifuentes has been firefighting since the day he got here, so maybe we were naïve to think that things were suddenly going to change after a single pre-season.
The world looks like a different place after a few wins, although I suspect our goal-scoring problems haven't gone away. It would be good if we can keep anything of our momentum going. |

Ooo...chaps under fire in the trenches? Sent over the top into no-man's land? Yes, we had to consolidate before innovating. Actually, I don't think Cifuentes had much choice but to stick to defending, as we couldn't score a goal (until Celar and then Kolli delivered).
You are right to warn about this game...we haven't done well against teams lower in the table, and we always struggle in any game that we are expected to win. Having said that I would like to think we could use some of the momentum we have picked up in the last few games. |

Yes, a home win any time now would be good. I think people have stuck with Martí because of last season's miracles, plus we have never been completely out of touch with the pack. If anyone can get us out of this mess he can. However, how many seasons you can rely on miracles is another question.

Pretty different to us. As mentioned on Open All R's, Sainz has scored as many goals this season as our entire team. Norwich are also able to spend significant amounts on players.

Yes, everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. On top of that noboby was prepared for this after Martí's rescue mission last season...it was going to be onwards and upwards.
More terrible stats with those "away fatigued" games.
In the oppo interview the Watford fans picked out Chakvetadze as one of their key men, so hopefully we will have someone trying to keep him quiet. Agree with SimplyNico that we all want to see if Celar's performance was a turning point or a flash in the pan. |
