| Forum Thread | Good advert for The Championship at 07:19 30 Oct 2024
Decent game last night. Two teams who couldn’t defend, a bit of needle in the second-half to fire up the crowd, and no VAR. Ref was half-decent as well. Bring on more of the same next season. |

Disgraceful refereeing performance last Saturday v Leicester. Rewarded with Arsenal v Liverpool today. I had forgotten how disgracefully run the Prem is. |

Will we see the Northam Wall suck the ball into the net for the first ever time on Tuesday??? It might have to go to a penalty shoot-out…….. |

| Forum Thread | Set-piece coach at 08:24 22 Oct 2024
Article in The Echo this morning confirms that we have not had a set-piece coach since Georgson left last season. Have been winging it by the job being shared between Calderwood and Gill. On Saturday, we again let in a criminally bad goal from a corner to cost us any points. 25 miles up the road, about an hour and a half later, Boscombe scored from a well-worked set-piece against Arsenal. As they did against us a few weeks ago. It isn't that these teams have better players than us (though a lot of teams do). It's that we are so amateurishly prepared. Again, it is the basics which are costing us. Not clever stuff. This is wholly on the head of Russell Martin. |

This cannot be so. I’ll be 60 by the time we’re rid of him. Hell fire.

| Forum Thread | Martin would have gone by now if.... at 13:14 21 Oct 2024
1. We lost to Leeds at Wembley 2. We started this season in the Championship dismally However, having beaten Leeds:- - He has now become considerably more expensive to sack, with the contract extension etc. - He will still be perceived by some of the powers that be as having credit in the bank I fear that if we were going to do the deed, it would already have happened by now. |
| Forum Thread | Top 3 reasons Martin must be sacked now at 08:46 20 Oct 2024
1. Mental weakness throughout the side. 2. Substitutions 3. Set-pieces. Difficult to keep it down to 3 reasons, in truth. I'm still fuming about:- - the non-international players within the squad being given 4 days off last weekend - him being out in Winchester on a Saturday afternoon 3 weeks ago when he should have been at Arsenal v Leicester, and watching our next 2 League opponents. He clearly has been waiting to be sacked for some time. |
| Forum Thread | Our fans are shit at 19:49 19 Oct 2024
Northam full of people on their phones, not watching the game. Generally not giving a shit. And this was when we were 2-0 up FFS. Try and start a song and people look at you as if you’re a weirdo. Martin has to go. But he can take a lot of our fans with him. |
| Forum Thread | Four days off at 07:06 12 Oct 2024
A work colleague of mine was on a flight on Thursday night to Newcastle from Southampton. Runs into Adam Armstrong, who is with wife and kids. He said Armstrong came across as very passionate about Saints, and gutted about our current predicament. The interesting thing was that he was flying back up north as Martin has given all the players not involved in internationals 4 days off. I wonder if Steve Cooper has been quite so generous. To my mind, you give players a period of time off as a reward when they have achieved something. You shouldn’t reward failure. But then I’m not in carnal relations with Lucy Pinder….. |
| Forum Thread | Manager gone if we lose to Leicester at 08:34 10 Oct 2024
Seems to be the word on the street. It strikes me that it would be somewhat negligent if our esteemed leaders were not already sounding out other managers and in talks with their agents. |
| Forum Thread | Did Saturday's game buy Russell Martin time? at 12:06 7 Oct 2024
I fear it did. Massive game against Leicester to come. I would have preferred for us to have a new manager in place, as we absolutely need a change of approach. Already Steve Cooper has made comments about this game and how massive it is for them. A win for them would put them on 9 points, a pretty reasonable start to the season. Will Martin adapt our game, as Arteta did on Saturday to address our weaknesses? I suspect we all know the answer to that one. However, Leicester's defence is slow and they are definitely beatable. Last chance saloon, Buddha. |
| Forum Thread | Set pieces today at 12:55 5 Oct 2024
Arsenal score loads of goals from set-pieces. Buddha says we have been working extra hard this week on practicing set-piece defending (obviously we showcased this expertly on Monday….). Do we actually have a set-piece coach after that Swedish guy left a few months ago???? |
