E-mail nightmare advice needed 19:24 - Sep 25 with 4377 views | six_foot_two | I don't understand how this has happened as I have internet security but I 've gone into my mail only to discover that I am sending one particular message out to loads of people I don't know. I am using yahoo and the e-mails are being blocked before they are sent , the e-mail it self appears to be about detailed stocks and share dealings, not the usual spam crap. Is there anyway I can stop this without closing my account . The rate they being sent appears to be slowing down at present

E-mail nightmare advice needed on 21:40 - Sep 25 with 4242 views | RangersAreBack | It's happened to a few people I know. Solution is to change your password. Clearing the cache is also recommended. And check your browser settings to ensure passwords are never remembered.

Password is usally the winner, if it's a web based email system such as yahoo your own Internet security probably doesn't have much affect for someone hacking it, it will only really protect you against what you read/download from the account.
E-mail nightmare advice needed on 08:08 - Sep 26 with 3944 views | smegma | When it happened to me I got reported by someone on here for sending out SPAM !! So I contacted AOL and told them I'd been hacked. I looked in my sent folder and none of the emails was listed as being sent. When I told AOL , they said someone had set up an identical email address and was using my email address book. Most of the spam was the usuaul viagra/ larger member crap .So I then had to delete the whole address book then I got a new anti virus product and started from scratch. The hacker also hacked my ebay account and bought 237 blackberries/mobiles !!!!!!!!! Thankfully they couldn't hack my paypal account otherwise I'd be about 50k down.......

The only reason I had realised that mail was being sent is that yahoo was rejecting it and it was showing in my inbox as that. I have had a look at the mail itself and oddly it’s a specific advert for a high paid industrial job and an advert relating to share dealing. I have tried to change my password but its rejecting my internet address. Although since I have un-ticked the 'keep me logged on button' it appears to have stopped.

E-mail nightmare advice needed on 09:36 - Sep 26 with 3853 views | HantsR | Change password etc as others have advocated. Also, worth looking to see if you have a holiday reply (or out of office) message set up without your prior knowledge? I found this had happened to my wife's account but it was simple to delete the offending text and to un-set the option.
E-mail nightmare advice needed on 09:53 - Sep 26 with 3833 views | LazyFan | Once hacked the only true way to be clean is format the computer. Some nasty people put in several back doors once they have done ya. Hence the need for backups. Why not try Ubuntu this time? That will auto increase your protection by around 99% straight away.

It's worth installing protection for smartphones. As well as dodgy stuff which fcks the phone or sends emails, I read there is a virus which automatically calls premium numbers.
