MOM? on 19:24 - Jan 21 with 704 views | ted_hendrix | Just back. Buzsaky, he owned the first half for us and made a couple of crunching tackles in the second half. Having said that HH ran him a very close second.

MOM? on 19:27 - Jan 21 with 698 views | Neil_SI | It's the old guard that are doing the business at the moment for us, and for me, the two main players for us were Akos Buzsaky and Heidar Helguson, who both put in very decent shifts for the team. Buzsaky's intent was a positive for us in what I thought was a bit of a drab game really and Helguson just worked his socks off throughout and keep the Wigan defence busy. He showed some really good movement today, especially the run and dipping volley that flashed just wide. Excellent.

MOM? on 18:44 - Jan 21 by baz_qpr | Buzz for me too , to answer Poms question Buzz wide right, and he is worth his place just for set pieces. However he still looks a bit unfit and a bit slow. My Scores would be Kenny 6 Hill 7 Hall 7 Ferdinand 7 Young 6 SWP 7 Barton 7 Buzz 8 Mackie 7 Helgusson 8 Campbell 7 Smith 7 Derry na Was unsure about the sub putting SWP upfront as it put us on the backfoot but Tommy Smith got the goal so I guess I cant complain |
Buzz showed us the quality we have been missing since Taarabt lost form. His touch and vision are fantastic, he is just lacking match fitness. I recall Warnock saying that when Buzz got over his injury it would be like having a new quality signing. I don't understand why therefore he never really got a chance. A fit Buzz is surely premiership quality and at last we can get excitied about getting a set piece.

Barton - a good game today ? on 19:32 - Jan 21 with 690 views | quickpassrotter | Sorry, got to disagree with some of the posts. I thought that Barton did not have a good game. Gave the ball away far too many times. In passing through the channels - over hit the ball on several occasions. Probably lacked some match fitness (well, has missed last 3). Buzaky looked real class today, and worked hard off the ball too. Good to see him play the way he did. Their keeper kept them in the game at crucial times

Mackie did well considering he is not even nearly good enough. He's the one thing stopping us from being a tidy outfit.

I thought he had a poor game. Well, I judge it more like this, he started with some nice and tidy passes, just keeping control and possession, but then went through long periods of anonymity throughout the match and as he started to get more involved, he made more mistakes, often fouling and giving away the foul that led to their goal, but also his passing and lack of getting the weight right cost us at least three very good attacking opportunities. Having said all of that, he did win the tackle that started the counter for our third goal, which Shaun Wright-Phillips played a part in as well with his ball to Tommy Smith, but I thought Wright-Phillips had another hit and miss game and was lukewarm again. But hopefully these back to back wins will lift them and give them the confidence to raise their games to the next level. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

MOM? on 17:35 - Jan 21 by Trom | I couldn't disagree more about Barton. His defensive play allowed Buzz thee freedom to go forward. This difference between Buzz/Barton today and Buzz/Derry on Tuesday was massive for me. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Sure the midfield was better today but I didn't think that Barton had a good game. Over hit several channel passes and seemed to lack a bit of pace in the middle - maybe because he has missed the last 3 games. Felt good for Buz as he had a great game and oozed class. Their keeper kept them in it.
MOM? on 19:46 - Jan 21 with 654 views | Ranger78 | I enjoyed it today, yet he intensity of our ply was great and I think everyone played really well. Buzz was great and will get the plaudits for the pretty stuff and rightly so but I though HH was immense today. He works tirelessly and he does it with so my class. HH is MOM for me

It's all about opinions I guess. For me the difference that Barton made was a defensive one. I take the point about a few over hit passes but that wasn't really the key to his role today. With Derry on Tuesday we were being passed through our midfield by a league two team. With Barton playing the same role we owned the midfield against a premiership team. I respect what Derry gave us last season but I feel he's off the pace in a 90 min game and is now more suited for short bursts from the subs bench when we need a little grit to see out a game. Barton did all the nasty side of the game today that doesn't get the plaudits but did allow Buzz to focus on the attacking side of his game.

Your not the only one who thought this. I thin barton was probably lacking a bit of match fitness after the ban, in the second half he should of done a lot better with the shot he scuffed on the edge of the area. Fair play to Buz today, never thought I'd see him play that well in a rangers shirt again, far and away MOM.

agree ref barton, gets involvd and gets kicked all over the pitch with little protection. I have noticed this on a number of ocasions this season (esp norwich) the amount of fouls against him that dont get punished is amazing then the first time he mistimes a chalenge he's in the book. anyway back to topic, buzz again today (as against mcdons) with helgs a close second.

Barton and Buzz are a great combination in a 4-4-2. Buzz wasn't so great in a 4-2-5-1 - Derry and Tarrrabt were. In other words, horses for courses. Will be interesting to see what happens when Tarbs comes back from Africa. Can he play in a 4-4-2??

I think he can, others don't, on the left for me SWP on right Mackie on the bench

I can't see hughes playing Taraabt on the wing, not unless he learns the defensive duties required of a winger, or we get a great left back that doesn't require so much cover.. I can see him playing him in the hole behind a striker, but if you watch the amount of work our wingers are doing defensively, whilst Taraabt has been greatly improved in tracking back and cutting out space, I'm not entirely sure he knows how to play the sort of role Smith SWP and Mackie did today, where in effect they're the first line of defense in front of the full back.
MOM? on 23:27 - Jan 21 with 510 views | BlackCrowe | Barton over hit through balls on 2 or 3 occasions, but he had very good game overall. Water carrier for Buzz and played the role to perfection.

Having seen MOTD, I realise it wasn't Barton who made the foul, but rather Buzsaky, so my apologies for the mistake. I do recall Barton bottling a couple of tackles early doors as well mind, although for one of them he probably didn't fancy it as the player he was about to tackle seemed very keen for a 50-50.
MOM? on 23:41 - Jan 21 with 493 views | Pablo_Hoopsta | Buzz for me too, played very well, a good example to others bar his giving away the free kick. That was all rather ironic! Thought Barton played better, more of the same please Mr.B.
MOM? on 23:50 - Jan 21 with 484 views | Hunterhoop | Buz MoM for me too. HH ran him close (what a man!). Buz looked class, comfortabe and perfectly capable as a ball playing CM today. Impressed and so much more hopeful than I was before. I didn't think he had it in him at this level....he seems to have proved that to be b*llocks!

MOM? on 17:25 - Jan 21 by A40Bosh | If I was Clive then the LFW Official Match Report would be entitled " The Buzz Returns to Loftus Road" In more ways than one. Early days but thought he was like a man reborn today, brimming with confidence and that volley which he tee'd up via a mis-controlled first touch would have been a contender if Al Habsi had not saved it. Really put a smile on my face that result. |
Or even "Buzz on song". Great to see him back doing what he used to do, but at the top level. my boys are happy too..."I saw may mate...." being sung all the way home!
MOM? on 07:26 - Jan 22 with 424 views | westberksr | Buzz, closely followed by HH. watched HH chase across the field closing still in around the 865th minute; knows his job and sticks at it for the full 90 mins. wonder if Buzz having a few long range cracks gave HH the inspiration for his own unfortunately 25 yard effort? nice to see SWP running a defenders too; not ideal on the left but went acri=oss defenders and was unlucky that stillno end result; had Wigan defence worried everytime he got the ball though. Hill was always overlapping giving him the opportunity too. good allround performance
