McLean suspended for 4 matches on 14:03 - Dec 11 by AndyGNCFC
Norwich Fan, QPR Bond holder!
Not taking anything away from the actual incident, what most Norwich Fans are more angry about is how the FA has dealt with it. Why did they go back and look at it?, and if they were going to do it why wait until 3hours before kick off to say our player was banned for 4 matches? Had that happened in game and he got a red then you'd have a few days of game planning rather than last minute unplanned changes.
Not sure what's got into the squad recently but they've got scrappy, think it was 6 yellows in the last match! That will now be 8 games banned for Kenny before Christmas which is disgraceful for our "captain"
If you hear our manager's comments after the Portsmouth match he isn't arguing the legitimacy of the foul, his concern is it is now opening up a new precedent for retrospective punishment. It sounds like he will send a list to the FA.
This was his quote "I’ve never had anything like that in my career. I will have to go through every Championship game to clearly find incidents in all the games."
"And of course, we need to appeal them. I've never seen anything like this, but they opened the door for a new strategy, a new way of working, and a new competition for us, because I expect that the same will happen to all the other teams. Otherwise, we don't compete on equal terms."
Let's not forget your player smacking Sainz in the face in the 3rd minute for example, What stops the FA from coming back and retrospectively banning there?
The Match before you was Luton and the referee's decisions were awful, we've had so many bad calls this year and I think we've put in a few complaints which may be why they've reviewed our matches.
But it is more a question of is the FA going to retrospectively be reviewing every match like some after-event VAR. I don't expect the club to take this lightly and could be opening a can of worms for the football league. I guess its a kind of "watch this space"
Fortunately for us those match officials were dreadful,
On another day at least 1 of your 2 goals is given as was onside and a very likely penalty,
McLean didn't intend to connect with his elbow but was reckless and did, with VAR that's a Red,
Stamp on Madsen was a Red for me, right in front of the Linesman,
I get your clubs frustration with the process, but not sure what the League do when relying on such inept officials.

Gary,
Read my posts again,
I said senior players, I said yellow card,
I deliberately didn't name or mention Cook as some are overly sensitive,
I've never seen a leader in him since he played no return hospital balls to Ossie Kakay and then berated him,
If I'm playing inside Ossie Kakay I'm talking and encouraging him for 90 minutes, step, hold, get tight, not hanging him out to dry,
Had a decent game Saturday as a player, as a Leader he let Morgan down.
So you didn't see Cook the Captain speak to Kolli on at least 2 occasions after we'd scored?
I think as a team we played Norwich perfectly it terms of being disciplined (not rising/reacting to rough Norwich treatment) whilst also getting under their skin.
Can't fault Cook or anyone's performance on Saturday.

I want our Captain to communicate & encourage throughout the game,
Sorry but speaking to a player after they've scored doesn't do it for me,
If I'd seen him straight over to Morgan who was in shock and some pain to find out wtf had happened, I'd call that leadership,
Anyone can celebrate when things go well, the measure of someone is how they react when things don't go well,
And too often I see him looking to blame others be it Nardi, Dunne whoever,
Each to their own in what they expect from the teams leader I suppose.

I'm just struggling to wrap my head around the fact that a detailed post match analysis suggests that this should have been a straight red ( you can agree with the decision or not and can certainly question the decision to scrawl through video post match but that's certainly the conclusion they came to) and somehow the victims here are Norwich not QPR.

While I genuinely don't think there was enough force, either in McLean's action, or Morgan's approach run, to see Morgan react as if poleaxed.
But as I said, the way the rules work these days, had the ref seen it, it would have been a red card, so whatever you think about the length of the ban etc, McLean/Norwich can have no complaints about being caught out.

Whether his arm is bent or not is irrelevant. You've still been hit by a hard boney elbow that's been swung into your face with force whilst uniwittingly jogging towards it!!

Morgan was "poleaxed" because he was blinded-sided by a swinging forearm aimed at his face. First, he was in agony. Then, shock when he got up and finally blind rage. I watched it unfold in R block. It was disgraceful.
Would love to get you together with Morgan to explain why in your judgement it probably didn't hurt as much he made out.
"I'm afraid I see it differently". Who cares? Are you on the disciplinary panel?
Why are watching clips of QPR and wading onto QPR message boards to pompously pronounce? Are you banned from Brentford fan sites? Understandable.

"Irrelevant"?
If you were trying eg to force open a jammed door, would you keep your arms straight while hitting it with your elbow, or bend your arm to concentrate the impact at the point of contact i.e. elbow itself?
As I say, it seemed more to me like an attempt to ward off a challenge which went wrong, than a deliberate attempt to stick one on him.
But if you see it differently, then fair enough.
Anyhow, to show how the game has changed over the years, this assault by Ben Thatcher on Pedro Mendes was seen by the ref and only received a yellow card!

My view isn't really very different from that eg of QPR fans RBlock, Blue Castello and The Chef (page 2), so why don't you play the ball, rather than the man?
After all, that was McLean's offence.

My point is, bent arm or not, it was premeditated and it still would've f*cking hurt!!

i watched it in real time, you WUM. It was intentional, violent and I have absolutely no doubt very painful and shocking to Morgan.
Your view is entirely irrelevant to me therefore.
Just to add: Kenny McLean was sent off against Luton two years ago for an identical incident when he "accidentally" caught Tom Lockyer in the head with a straight-arm smash. He then also spent five minutes also chasing after the ref as he did Saturday. That's the player. This is his second four match ban of this season for violent conduct.

Doesn't have to be an elbow to be a red card of course, so all this talk of cocked arm or whatever is totally irrelevant.
You're not allowed to belt opponents in the face, however you do it.
If that's directed at me, you'll note that I agree it deserved a red card. But my point was that by using his arm the way he did, it was more reckless than had he used his elbow, which would have been malicious.
But both get red carded these days, so McLean can't complain imo.

Just ridiculous whining from Norwich. It was a straight red, ref missed it so was retrospectively punished. I thought I read somewhere that it was appealed and they added an extra game ban for that. May have got that wrong though, if true it would also explain the time taken.

I thought it was a 4 game ban because of it being his 2nd red card this season.
