Why do they always vote Tory then ? And the welsh always vote Labour ? We are different nations. We have different values. Their nationalism is ugly, strident, backward looking, and based on assumed superiority. Welsh nationalism is inclusive and progressive, and none of those things. I am surprised that you cant see the value proposition of a small nation in Europe. All are pretty successful, as Ireland and Scotland will soon prove again. Meanwhile we are handcuffed to the class bully who hates the modern world. Cymrus needs ignored. Boris Johnson is exhibit A. He is brexidiot England personified. A dreadful selfish man who would have had a good kicking in any Swansea Comp. Not so in Eton.

Golly . That’s certainly one way of looking at it. Slightly simplistic I’d venture. I’d respectfully suggest that any nationalism maybe anything but inclusive which maybe shown by the tone of your post. The English people with whom I live and work are welcoming, warm and hate the Tories. When I was in Uni in Wales I encountered Welsh people who were ignorant and racist towards my English friends. There will be opposite characters on both sides. I really don’t like any form of discrimination, be it towards us, the English, black, gay or whoever. Of course there are English people who you describe but the same also applies to the Welsh who hate the English. Prejudice is prejudice

Simplistic it might be, but England does posses a higher percentage of conservative voters. 47% to 36% in Wales. In my experience i have come across more English persons who were racist, xenophobic etc who i very quickly distanced myself from. (Thats not to say there arent Welsh people with those exact same views. (Who i have and would also not engage with)), but it was strange to me as whilst at University they did not show these views and it was only upon them returning home did they emerge. I'd also suggest that not all nationalism is isolationist, as the meaning of it can take different forms depending on who you ask. I would consider myself a Welsh nationalist, but i am very much in favour of inclusivity and co-operation.

It depends where in England. SE is Tory, NW certainly isn’t. Manchester voted to remain, wales voted to leave. Majority of people are very decent, everywhere you go. Never understood ‘English do this’ or the ‘Welsh do this’

Depends how in depth you want to go, i suppose the real divide in votes would be by how affluent the area is. Oh i completely agree that most people are decent, but its always the 1% of idiots that you will remember.

A civic nationalism is an inclusive nationalism. Maybe some welsh people see their language and culture being diluted to the point of it being no more. I am sure you would support their right to call it out before its gone. Do we really want identikit Tesco towns everywhere…? Your friends seem lovely people, but factuallty England votes Tory. Its the reason why Johnson knew the inhuman Rwanda stunt was a vote winner with his core support. Factually Wales always votes Labour. We value community more and greed less. The voting of the good people of the north of England through time has mirrored Cymru. But Cymru has an independence option. We do not have to stomach Mogg and Johnson who care nothing for Wales.

Its not been the success that many people hoped for though Kilks, wonderful for SE Wales, not so much for the rest of Wales. Even you admit that surely.

All I see here are words like ‘could have ‘ and ‘partly’. It’s impossible to say as it is a secret vote. Seems a bit daft blaming the English for everything bad that’s happened. It’s difficult to say wales was voted out against their wishes as that’s presupposing vast majority of Welsh vote to remain. I’ve quite a few welsh relations who voted to leave. There’s leavers on this forum. Listen to any phone In on Radio Wales and it’s mixed. As for the language that’s down to choice, people are not choosing to speak it. I did it to gcse and stopped. I started doing duolingo but stopped. That’s down to me. This isn’t a normal government

You need to get out a bit more as you obviously haven’t met many English people. A lot of what’s written on here is just either jealously or not being able to move on. For some strange reason Kilkenny is still living in 1690 and can’t forgive King William. The English have a lot to be proud of, language for one. The world’s unofficial language, a language that you are all using on here including Trampie and Kilkenny 😠

I've met a fair few, not too many since finishing university years ago and living in south Wales. I'm not saying it is a vast amount, it was just in the people i came across. (That being said most were normal people). For me and ive said this probably too many times, I want to directly elect the politicians who make the decisions for my country. No bitterness, no envy, i dont care about any of that.
