Joe Allen Coming Home ? 11:40 - Apr 14 with 4016 views | STID2017 | Reports on PS that Joey is on a free transfer and looking to come home. Would love it if something could be worked out. Still a great player

Joe Allen Coming Home ? on 18:27 - Apr 14 by jasper_T | Why give Smith an extension? |
He’s a great influence behind the scenes and good enough to play a covering role in defensive midfield and for both wingbacks in a pinch. Better to have depth than not. Having people like him around will be vital for team spirit and for the younger uns

Ways round that. With him being here he could do them through the FAW

Grimes, Downes, Fulton, Ntcham, Walsh, Williams, Abdullai, Cotterill. Two spots available and Grimes never gets injured. More experienced depth means fewer opportunities for new players to progress, and financially throwing half a million a year at a "just in case" player who's a nice guy to have in the building is not sustainable practice. We're a £15m income club with a £25m wage bill, the cost of every extra squad player needs to be recouped somehow (i.e. sales of our best players). We've got Manning, Ogbeta and McFayden to play left wing back. Right side is trickier and we're likely to need to push the boat out a bit if we want to lock down Christie.

Fair point. However that extra bit of experience in the team and the squad could be enough to get us promoted next season. it is a gamble though

IMO it would need either Downes or Fulton to go for Joe to come in.

I can see them cashing in on Downes if we get a decent offer. Fulton may need to leave to get regular game time anyway. Which would allow Joey to come in for a couple of seasons and do his badges the same time. Maybe a future Swans coach in the making [Post edited 15 Apr 2022 9:46]

Joe Allen Coming Home ? on 12:37 - Apr 14 by ReslovenSwan1 | Like John Hartson he was very keen to return to the club at 32 when his legs were gone having filled his boots at WBA. Roberto showed the decency to speak to him and wish him well but no deal at Swansea. It is not a retirement home. Huw Jenkins put an offer on the table at Liverpool and all Joey had to do was not sign anywhere else. He was down to 12 months and they wanted to move him on. Mesa told Swansea he was going to Seville no where else. Swansea were forced to accept his terms. [Post edited 14 Apr 2022 12:46]

Jackanory. I have to point that there is parallel story that you are aware of. Joe was never offered a return - only papertalk after the event with Jenkins trying to save face. He was more than surprised as we have pointed out that no one spoke to him or his agent about a return.

I hear what you are saying but he is a current Weslh international with drive, ability and experience. It just so happens that he was a Swans player back then so a bit excited.

Doesn't sound so exciting when you put it like that As JL says though, think he has a bit more going for him

Very well may have lost his passion at Stoke which is hardly his fault! If he came here he’d likely be roaring and ready to play, tis a gamble though.

We brought in Hourihane last season for that extra bit of experience and look how that ended. At least with a returning Allen hopeful along with experience, his drive and passion as he does for Wales.
