Swansea City v Barnsley : Matchday Thread 21/22 UPDATED 02:41 - Apr 12 with 20956 views | NotLoyal | It’s the a Good Friday game, and the chance for another doube. Yes, the doube is on again. Not like the Cardiff doube, but a doube all the same. This thread has been brought to you by ‘Doube’ The history making word with one L of an impact. The Officials ANDY WOOLMER 👀 Robert Hyde and Natalie Aspinall Fourth Official : Charles Breakspear First Swans game Woolmer officiates this season, he is the referee Steve Cooper made allegations against of having issues with him and Swansea City. He was the fourth official which brought about a whole lot of touchline reporting when Ryan Manning was sent off against Fulham. Thereafter he was involved in reporting Swansea City for a variety of infringements on and off the pitch. Despite Fulham committing similar and in some cases far worse touchline issues which were overlooked. Let’s hope Woolmer comes to Swansea with clarity and an independent view. Swansea City v Barnsley : Matchday Thread 21/22 UPDATED on 16:28 - Apr 15 by Flashberryjack | Looks like our players have decided to go on holiday a few weeks early, absolutely disgraceful performance. |
I don't understand it. A win today and we'd be just 5 points off the play off spots with a game in hand. Then win the next game and could have been 2 points off the play offs with 4 left to play. Why on earth have they looked so disinterested???

Absolutely. Some very disappointing individual performances (though I did have a badly interrupted stream). I thought Wolfe was awful and Patterson also. Christie, as you say, lethargy personified. Was the ball a different weight. So many over weighted passes and the ball sticking under players feet. Obafemi’s control can be non league standard at times. All in all, bloody awful.

Swansea City v Barnsley : Matchday Thread 21/22 UPDATED on 17:04 - Apr 15 with 1107 views | Dr_Parnassus | Atrocious. Such a wasted opportunity in order to serve a needless style of play proven not to work. We only looked dangerous when he chucked Ntcham on with 30 to go and in patches started to go more direct. It allowed us to salvage a point but really could have been all 3 if we approached it correctly from the start. Add this to the list of frustrating results where lessons before it continue to go unlearned. 74% possession, 700+ passes…. 1 shot on target until the 65th, allowing them 19 efforts on goal… home to Barnsley. All that needs to be said. [Post edited 15 Apr 2022 17:29]

The alternative is the 'beach' scenario....where they dont really care. Today's performance suggests the latter.

Proper insightful posting. As you've so eloquently pointed out for so long, Martinball ain't a winner. And as you predicted this game was nailed on for regreshun to Martinball. Bang on. A diabolically poor showing. Martin ain't clever. We've managed some recent results against extremely poor opposition. We haven't played a half decent team since Fulham. Transishun is in fact Regreshun. We're in a regreshun season under arrogant Martin. At least the most recent poll shows the dullards are catching on.

So disappointing mate, but as you say, it was entirely predictable. “The perfect storm for Martinball” is what I said a few days ago, and that it was. Slow, ponderous, no attacking intent, just passing and possession while giving up chances to the opposition. I’m amazed so few people appear to be furious with the style, especially after we of all people (swans fans) should know how passing and possession football should be played. This continuous regression is unforgivable for me. There is no learning there. 1 step forward and 2 steps back regarding this style of play, it’s the theme of this tenure.

Swansea City v Barnsley : Matchday Thread 21/22 UPDATED on 17:19 - Apr 15 by Dr_Parnassus | I didn’t say “whole match” I said 1 shot on target. I was referring to the prior before going direct, but thought it was too unclear after reading it back. Which it appears to be considering you didn’t understand. Glad you are paying attention though. I do understand, you must have missed the first half, because your stats were also wrong at half time. Just own it when you are wrong, it doesn't hurt.

We underestimated Barnsley and couldn't get mentally switched until we conceded the first goal. Probably thought we only had to turn up day. The lack of tempo done my head in, so slow walking football. We need an injection of pace all around the first 11 next season especially in Grimes position. Grimes turns slower than a double decker bus. [Post edited 15 Apr 2022 17:43]

You didn’t understand because you thought I was talking about the whole game, hence I corrected you. The stats aren’t mine, do you think I keep a running total? They were the stats available online, I can only assume they missed it too. Or deemed the shot saved but not on target, I missed it clearly so can’t comment. I said I missed it if it happened, that’s owning it isn’t it? Not sure what you want really. Doesn’t change anything. Not sure why you are getting so excited. Relax.

Hmmm not sure we underestimated them. More like over-estimate the Martinball style. They were more than for the taking if we played properly. Bang on for the last paragraph.
