Celtic & Rangers in a “British League”? on 12:11 - Apr 22 with 3122 views | Whiterockin | Not going to happen. If they want in it's start at the bottom of the pyramid and work your way up. There would be a backlash from Scottish clubs similar to what has happened with the English league clubs and the ESL fiasco. Some of the Scottish clubs rely on the money those two bring into the league.

Celtic & Rangers in a “British League”? on 13:54 - Apr 22 with 3057 views | pencoedjack | Why would Celtic want to play English clubs? The majority of their fans hate everything to do with England surely they’d rather play clubs in SOUTHERN Ireland Same could be said of some of our fans wanting to play in the English league structure. Celtic & Rangers in a “British League”? on 16:11 - Apr 22 with 2992 views | Catullus | Surely it's against all rules to put them straight into the EPL? They're talking about reducing the number of teams to 18 too. Imagine this happening all at once, they'd have to relegate 5 clubs, then the whole EFL would have to reorganise. I don't see it happening purely for the legal mess it would cause. I'd also say the other 14 EPL clubs will vote it down because they know it means 2 of them will go down when they otherwise wouldn't. I can't believe the "big 6" are still bealting on about too many games given the ESL fiasco. They go on about quality when we all know it's about money, more profit. Really now, does anybody think cutting the big 6 lose and telling them to go away is a good idea?

From what I read on another forum I think the PL is technically just an invitational league, separate from the EFL structure, and so it could bring pub league teams straight in if it wanted. But the EFL decides whether it accepts relegated sides into the Championship and that's one of the main bargaining chips it has. To reduce to 18 teams the PL have to convince not only those 20 clubs that it's in their interest to make future survival harder, but get the EFL to agree without seeing removed teams drop to the National League. The EFL is under no obligation to reshuffle itself at the whims of the PL. It wouldn't be a legal battle, but rather a series of probably major financial concessions in the EFL's favour.

Celtic & Rangers in a “British League”? on 12:14 - Apr 23 with 2753 views | Badlands | Easy enough for the Premier League to add 2 teams so no reason not to enter the PL expect they would have to be exempt from relegation. Unless the PL offered promotion from the Scottish premiership. A UK super league would also possible as long as it removed promotion and relegation, or it was annually reviewed as a invitation league. But, although Celtic and Rangers are big names and big brands Celtic currently have less value than Bournemouth, Norwich and Brentford with Rangers also below Watford. [Post edited 23 Apr 2021 12:21]
