For the record, the official account of the U.K. Civil Service tweeted “Arrogant and offensive. Can you imagine having to work with these truth twisters?”

Daft thing is, it’s Sunday afternoon so it won’t even take much of an investigation to pinpoint who tweeted it. Perhaps they were leaving anyway.

Cummings on 18:19 - May 24 with 1456 views | londonlisa2001 | Sky have just reported that the car seen at Barnard Castle was Cummings’ car. That explains Johnson making a very specific point about being more than 14 days isolation before and after (they knew he was within the 14 days when he was at Barnard Castle). The issue now, is that means he was positive before he traveled. So just one picture of him stopping on the journey... Plus even if not positive at that point, it was a clear breach of rules.

Probably an intern or a temp who thought sod it. Good for them. They could say they were acting on their instincts of course... I can’t help but think this is a quite spectacular mistake from Johnson. I really thought he’d just launch an inquiry to kick it into the long grass. This is madness. Unless he’s looking for a way out anyway. Let’s see what Sarah Vine says if anything...

Whoever sent it just has to say his/her iPhone was hacked... Surely Boris has to give them the benefit of the doubt 😉 [Post edited 24 May 2020 18:22]

“It’s very clear that going to a castle was well within the guidelines and he acted with integrity and responsibility at all times. People all throughout the thirteenth century self isolated in castles during times of siege for several months, if not years. They are very well designed for self isolation and therefore Dominic was acting with the defeat of the virus in the forefront of his mind by self isolating in a castle. He had taken the correct steps, firstly by throwing his children into a makeshift oubliette to instinctively protect them from the virus. Then he made sure he had boiled oil at the ready to pour on the virus and the trebuchet was bolted ready for any imminent attack on the eastern curtain wall from the virus. Even if the virus completely surrounded the castle he was safe for an extended period of time. He has assured me that plans were made to sally forth and meet the virus in battle in the event of supplies running low. Therefore I am completely satisfied with his explanation and will not answer any more questions.”
