Whichever way you look at it and whoever is to blame, we are in a deep, deep hole and the daylight at the top of it gets dimmer with every game we play. If anyone has a better short term plan than getting Pulis in, I'd like to hear it.

I agree, we are in deep shit. I understand that people are not happy with the way Pulis teams play, neither am I really - horrible niggly football, but first the patient needs to be saved, reconstructive surgery can come later.

Poll: Who wants the Swans to lose games get relegated to get rid of Huw and the yanks.

That's nonsense Jobs

Mark Gower was already technically very good footballer with an excellent range of passing and good movement. A typical Spurs youth product if you like.

It's not about pretty football. All very good teams mix style with steel. It's more that we aren't committing enough players forward. Everything is too rigid now which makes it easier to defend against. Contrast that with the movement and interchanging of positions that we saw under Martinez, Rodgers and Laudrup. The players need to take off the shackles and start enjoying their football but we also need pace in January. Combine that with Fernandez coming back and well have a chance.

I agree 100% Almost every player signed is a plodder in terms of pace Clucas,Fer,Ki,Carol, etc join them with the likes of Britton,Rangel and Routs who've lost a yard or two and we are very pedestrian, especially with our style of football at the moment .

Last season i thought we were done, clement came in and did an exceptional job in organizing us and making us hard to beat, i had great hopes for him and i thought that the scare of relegation might convince the yanks that correct planning and investment was key to the next season. That never happened, we sold our main chance of goals and didn't replace correctly which was clearly fatal in July as it is now .

We are too far gone to suddenly become a Laudrup,Rodgers Martinez type team again, that takes either a lot of money or a lot of time to cultivate , we are an identikit lower premier league British style team with nothing much on offer apart from the odd bit of skill once in a while.

Our problem, and it's one myself and many on here highlighted 3 yrs ago was that the moment we moved away from continential style football to something else ws the moment any advantage a small club like ours had in this league. Teams from all over Europe give British teams the run around all the time on a fraction of the budget, that's exactly what we were doing !! yet Monk and Jenkins thought they knew better.

We have fallen between 2 styles of football and have the players that do neither well, it twas criminal to ignore our strengths but we did just that, it was harder to get it wrong than to maintain our style and evolve, Monk managed to fook that in 18 months.

We are too soft to play Pulis football, we are not technically gifted enough to play a passing and move expansive game, we have truly fooked up beyond belief because of ego and people who think they know better. It really is shameful to witness.

Best we can hope for is a sale and a clear out Huw and Co. If we go down it will be almost impossible to do that as the club is not in London or near a big city with huge catchment but in a part of the country many would never dream of visiting, irrelevent of how beautiful we think the place is .

Tragic stuff from Huw and Co. i can't believe they still get a free ride .

Maybe we would have been better off buying a small Italian, Spanish, or German team Lock Stock and Dineens Arse.

God it’s depressing. And I was already miserable. All I need now is bloody parsnips for tea to finish me off.

What's wrong with parsnips? Delicious vegetable.

Managers like pulis, allardyce etc always come in to put out the fires this time of year.
They tend to start by tightening up the defence. Our defence is solid and if you compare goals against we arent doing too bad.
We need to create more opportunities and start pulling the trigger. Wilf is growing in confidence and the armband is doing him good.
We need a manager to install confidence amd get things going from the middle. We desperately need to add to the middle of the park and look for a decent number 10. Unfortunately you pay a premium for those sort of players in January so the board have done themselves no favours by squirralling the money away in the summer.
Thanks clem but we need a change but i would rather look for fresh keen manager with a more positive approach

So as you say our defence is pretty solid I would imagine Pulis would be the last man we need to install some creativity into the team.

Our goal difference is not to shabby concidering we dont score goals.

That could all change on Wednesday. They put 7 past the team we've just lost to.

Agree with all of that. Pullis bring organisation, we have that. Pulis nicks wins from set pieces and long balls, but we sold our set piece exert and tall striker who thrived on balls in the box (and if we have those players, we can do that under Clem as last season showed).

I'm struggling to see therefore what Pulis would bring that Clement can't, except maybe a honeymoon period. Surely the only argument for him is one around change and re-energising (maybe) the players.. In terms of style we may as well stay as we are and hope we can sign 1 or 2 in Jan who can make a difference in the final third.

Or in short, he can fook off.

Agreed. It beats me that people conspire to ruin cawl and it's beautifully sweet mellow flavour by adding swede - it dominates the whole stew and nullifies the leek, carrot, lamb and parsnip

A very good post and one which is important to identify our problem.

We ve lost the Swansea Way and as a result we ve lost our way as a club for the foreseable future.

We were once a role model of a club taking on the big boys with ease sometimes,we certainly slayed a few giants along the way.

Laudrup was the last manager to bring the best out of us with our unique continental style of football. We had a cracking team at the time but we took it for granted,as we know it did nt end well.

Those days are gone and everything changed from Monk onwards...granted he gave us 8th poition his first season but as we went further away from our football identity it soon went to pot...then the panic set in Guidolin would have been good given a better chance but he used his own assistant manager rather than Alan Curtis. After him it was Bob Fickwit then Clement. The Swansea Way which served us so well is now dead. Lord only knows what kind of team we are now...just a rag tag bunch of bargain basement types thrown together in the desperate hope that something will come of it.

Having a distinct tactic is useful for a variety of reasons. It forces recruitment through an extra layer of checks, moving the question from ‘Is this player good?’ to ‘Is he good for us?’. The same check applies to managers, and, in truth, it is here that decision makers at the club have abandoned the club’s distinct style.

In Swansea’s case, a possession style was most useful as a defensive tool. Where big clubs with high average possession often spent most of it in their opponent’s half, we would recycle the ball in their own half as a defensive tactic etc . This made breaking us down hard, while also making their attacks slow. worked a treat.

Really dont know how we are going to move forward...personally I would welcome Pulis but alas it is still too little too late I m afraid...with this team its like flogging a dead horse.
