So the window is open. 10:41 - Jan 1 with 18026 viewsClitheroeDale

Here's hoping we can fend off any bids for this wonderful young side Mr Hill has assembled and Scott goes for mega money. If Scott is sold I wonder if we will strengthen. On current form anybody brought in would need to be one he'll of a player.

Up the Dale.

The late substitutions aren't as much about wasting time as breaking up the play and slowing the tempo of the game. Players also go onto the pitch with very specific instructions.

Anyway back to the OP yes silly season has begun! I can see this being a big spending window!

Edit: Obviously not for us but in general.

Absolutely. It's more about disrupting momentum than time-wasting.

I agree.

Someone marked me down for suggesting such a thing, without being able to put forward a counter argument, but it happens , often with substitutions.

NOT saying Dale do it on purpose to waste time, but some do.

I thought Hill had made that substitution so Rathbone could get a well-deserved ovation from the fans, to be honest.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

It was a general point I was making, but yes sometimes players are substituted and quite rightly to allow them to be given a good deserved standing ovation from the fans. This was after some posters were coming out with other theories about why very late substitutions are made, including win bonuses . Slowing the game or interrupting the momentum of a game, when holding onto a lead is of course part of game management, and substitutions can do that of course.
