Disgrace 17:31 - Aug 27 with 49815 views | Knowlesy | Hill's reaction to the fans after our equaliser today is the final straw for me. Dunno if it's still at the point where I'll get slagged off for this but an own goal / straight from the corner / whatever it was does not justify 90 minutes of absolute sludge nor does it make me feel any better about the season ahead. We needed to win today to bring the fans back onside and I've always defended Hill because of what he's done for the club, don't get me wrong we have come a long, long way under his management but for me he can go after his reaction to the fans today. Turning round and giving it both barrels to the crowd after we've scored because they had a go after sending Logan back into his goal is unacceptable, he had no other thought in his mind after that goal other than getting one over on those paying fans. The first time in my life that I've actually been angrier after we've scored a goal and if a manager can do that then it's not a good show. Looking very grim after that performance.

No. If any club staff or fellow supporters believe fans go too far, report them to stewards. Or just ignore idiotic comments as they're not worth the hassle.

Disgrace on 21:04 - Aug 27 by justanillusion | I noticed Hillys venting/shouting to main stand crowd when Logan ventured forwards from where i was sat in Pearl St, didn't surprise me , the mans a law to himself , thinks hes god! |
View from the Pearl St end... Any goalie going forward at 1-0 down in the 95th minute is going to get the crowds approval. $hit or bust. 2 minutes earlier we nearly got our @rses handed to us on a plate when it was 5 v1 at the back from our corner. Hilly (the manager) reigned curbed Logan's enthusiasm. We scored. Logan acknowledged the manger's decision. We got a point from their Peterboroughesque time wasting tactics. Fans' in the main stand moan / grumble / suck up $hit. Guess what? Douglas the Lurpak butter man melts. No offence to the Main Standers but come over to the Pearl St or Sandy and you can see our formation and how it 'works' from a proper angle. I might even suggest that Hilly sits out the first half in Pearl Street to see the exposure down the left hand side. I'll even buy him a foot long hot dog.

Is this hinting that KH missed last week's Port Vale match because he was having a colonoscopy? Probably not, but it could be that he has got some health worries. In that clip shown of him earlier in this thread - in which incidentally he didn't quite say the words attributed to him - he seemed a bit drawn and lacklustre. I'm sure even his critics hope that whatever the medical issue was he's now fully over it.

I actually thought Logan should have gone up for that corner just to mix things up in the box, when Hill sent him back I didn't think 'Fook Off Hill' though as some fans seem to It's decisions like that that Hill is paid for and pretty much 8 or 9 times out of 10 he gets them right for us, no wonder he was so happy! It was probably luck today but after the last few weeks we've earnt that luck. [Post edited 27 Aug 2016 22:05]

Whether the keeper went up or not had absolutely no influence on the goal but I do agree that Hilly has the absolute right to make the decision. It was good to see a player wanting to make a decision though.

I was surprised to see Logan attempting to go up for the corner. I didnt want to string Hill up for stopping him. I'd hate to think what the reaction would've been had Jamie not got his head to the corner.

Shall we leave today's incident there? edit: he also said he thought the fans were very supportive and said there were no moans or groans. One of his most impressive interviews I've seen, honest about the way we're playing and accepting of his mistakes. [Post edited 27 Aug 2016 21:01]

I have just watched the interview on Daleplayer and agree that he is honest and sincere in his apology. For me personally I accept that and move on. In my posts I have said he needs to realise that his behaviour was not right. He has done that and I will be at the next game, don't know if my daughter will be though! 😜

We're third in the Championship tonight. We lost Mawson for £6m yesterday. Bought for £40,000. Angus MacDonald made his debut. Signed from Torquay. 4-0 victory. We're living the dream. Because the club and supporters, all facets are on the same page. Keith is a superb manager. Piss poor at getting his side to defend set pieces, but other than that, an absolute genius. But his gob, his honesty, it's not ideal in the modern age of football. Your club and fans seem so far apart. Sad, that. We were like that. Under Flicker, and Keith. Too many wars. As Keith once said "I felt like a fire-fighter". We've learnt as a club. Everyone needs to be in-sync. This post doesn't help, no doubt. Just remember though, you're a L2 club in essence. How can you be too successful? He's got far too big ideas about himself that's never been in doubt, quality manager for our club no doubt at all but the bloke himself I'd say he's a bit of a tool sadly.

A different post to some of those you submitted when we re-appointed him. The one where you pointed out how he took on the Barnsley supporters and they turned against him.I think you described the atmosphere at Oakwell as toxic at the time, a fight he could never win. The posts that highlighted him re- signing his old players ( mates) who obviously weren't good enough, Deja Vu? Yesterday's antics involving Hill and the Supporters, Deja Vu? Great that you're doing well, just think it was only last year when you submitted your blog speaking of throwing in the towel and withdrawing your support. It's not just the recruiting of non league standard footballers ( His budget is the same or even slightly bigger than last season ) it's also the fact our season ticket base which was small anyway as been reduced even further because the hierarchy decide to tell the fans what they are going to pay rather than sitting down and communicating with the dwindling fanbase. They insulted the supporters intelligence and tried to sugar coat the actual prices as a great deal, forgetting that we have fans who specialise in mathematics, you can't fool the fans whitey. A few months ago the Club finished the season on a high, fast forward and any feel good factor as evaporated and it's because of decisions made off the pitch. We have some good footballers at this Club and they deserve to be supported with a better standard of player than what we are witnessing otherwise positive results become more difficult and the strain on the better players increases. This is what we are witnessing at the moment. Piss poor recruitment and yes I blame it on the manager who I would describe more as a fire starter than a fire fighter. Seeing those sub standard players pulling on a Dale shirt again lit a fire inside me that I don't think will ever go out!! Enjoy your Sunday. [Post edited 28 Aug 2016 7:37]

Having read Twitter, they're replying to fans promoting the apology, having the full video on YouTube would be a very good idea. The text version is good but being able to watch it will illustrate to fans just how much Hill acknowledges he was in the wrong. Add to that the positive bit about the support and anyone listening to him will see he is really on the fans side with those comments. Watching someone say something has a greater impact, it certainly will on this occasion. It's a line in the sand moment, one to be taken advantage of. It's also a fantastic example of how admitting you're wrong can improve a situation.

Disgrace on 19:49 - Aug 27 by 11becks11 | I am upset by what happened today. I made the decision at the beginning of the season to take my 4 year old to the home games. I except that during a game there is bad language used and with hindsight maybe my decision to take my child so young was wrong. However how Hilly reacted today, not only the language but the gesture, to me is unacceptable. I was fuming that my child had to see that from the manager of our club! I appreciate what Hilly has done for the club but with all his experience he should know that he cannot act like that. He is a professional football manager and should realise that families are at the games! I won't be taking my little one again! |
Best thing to do is sit somewhere else. If you knew bad language was a feature and you chose to take a child then you can't moan when the inevitable happens. You have a geater responsibility to your child tha anyone else has.

I think it's a bit different for a youngster to hear a manager (who is looked up to by young fans in the same way as the players are) turn round and swear at the fans. I don't think that is inevitable, and I think Hill should behave with a bit more responsibility in his position.

To be honest SL he's probably sat in the best stand possoble for a lack of bad language, the last person you'd expect should be the manager in all honesty. I've not seen the interview but it sounds likeystone he's apologised so time to move on

Are we not a family club? I have followed dale for many years and I made the decision to take my daughter, knowing that she may hear some bad language, however I wanted her to enjoy it like I do and hopefully for it to become a family day we can enjoy together. It would not matter where I sat...as i highlighted in hindsight maybe she is too young. But I posted on here, not to moan but because I was disappointed that it was the manager that created that atmosphere yesterday and the first thing I did was remove her from the situation. Hilly has acknowledged his moment of madness and apologised and I respect that.

Why? Does he pronounce it differently ? There were many instances in the preceding 90 minutes yesterday when profane and foul language was being used by spectators sat in the main stand, a few feet away from those complaining aout Keith Hill. I was 10 yards away from them and heard every word they exchanged with Keith Hill and indeed everything Keith Hill said to them. I also saw them behaving disgracefully towards club directors and then saw them being escorted away by stewards when they were slow to oderate their own conduct. I would love to know if they were as keen, or indeed made any effort to report the numerous instances of foul language used by adjacent supporters, prior to the KH incident, or is it only offensive when KH responds to their constant barrage of criticism. Perhaps the 4 year old child cannot hear the foul words uttered by people sitting alongside, and is immune to them, but is somehow more vulnerable when the manager chooses to swear. Keith Hill has rightly apologised for what he said. I now await a full apology from those who goaded him into that reaction in the first place and for their subsequent conduct. There were many on both side of the tunnel who were equally appalled at their behaviour as they seem to be about the manager. Two sides to every story and neither party comes out of it with much credit, though one party has now publicly apologised.
