Going for a League 1 manager without experience at a higher level was always going to be a gamble especially given the situation Cardiff were in at the time.
I've just had a look at his record at Cardiff, and it's above relegation form if you take 50 points to be the target but when you factor in the "new manager" boom they experienced when he first came in you have to say they're in trouble of freefalling at the moment.
Still, I think they'll just scrape it, given they already have 36 points but I can't see him staying there past the end of this season. |  | | |

Surely a better choice would have been someone who could have gone straight in, motivated the players, got them playing effective football, and given you a chance of challenging for promotion?

FFP with your parachute payments?! Yes, you've got tighter budgets now, but they are much, much larger than most teams' in that division. So lack of money is no excuse.
I'm surprised at Slade so far. It was always a gamble, but I though one worth taking. In hindsight it's starting to look like another mistake. The difference with Petty was that the sums involved were small enough that something could be done.
