Swans look to cover their small squad with age grade prospects Friday, 27th Sep 2024 10:01 by Liam Walters Swans head coach, Luke Williams is happy to report no new injuries to his squad before Sunday’s game against Bristol City. However, there could well be a few new faces around the squad over this weekend. The lack of options up front and the slower than anticipated adaption of players like Florian Bianchini and Zan Vipotnik into championship football has meant Luke has been assessing Kyrell Wilson this week. Despite a bad injury and a long recovery Kyrell was back to doing what he does best, scoring goals for the U21 side recently. As of Wednesday morning we have been told that Wilson is being assessed closely, the club don’t want a repeat of the injury and are looking towards his inclusion in the first team squad very shortly. That’s the positive news for him, the negative from what we can see is that his Swans contract runs out at the end of this season. There are many more like him. Sam Parker is also gently easing himself into a full first team return, he has bulked up and has been ‘superb’ throughout his recovery and dedication to get back to where he was a year ago. He does have a new contract. Aimar Govea has until 2026 on his contract and is also being monitored closely. Williams needs to do this as it’s clear there is little support at this moment in time to invest in a free agent. Yes, they have been spoken to but the forward situation is quite an urgent fix, and despite talking about it the Swans have taken no action. Govea, Parker and Wilson seem to be the way forwards. Swans player, Josh Tymon has weighed in on the frustration that Swans fans are talking about regards new contracts for Harry Darling and Ben Cabango. He wouldn’t be drawn on what he knows on the situation but did say. “It’s not for me to say, but I think everyone in the club, and the people upstairs as well, will know hot big they are to this football club. I can't comment too much on that. But if you go off on their performances and how they've started the season, I think if you were working within the club, you know how massive it is to retain both players."
