Chris Dunphy In Talks To Return
Chris Dunphy In Talks To Return
Wednesday, 26th Apr 2023 16:25 by Chaff

Just minutes after the final whistle at Stockport, former Dale Chairman Chris Dunphy seemingly launched a sensational bid to return to the club.

We'd barely got out of Edgeley Park and my face was still wet from the tears when a statement from former Dale Chairman Chris Dunphy was being circulated via his Facebook page.

It basically announced that he had emailed the current board of directors offering to take over the running of the football club and purchasing new shares to inject capital into the club.

While I found the timing of this curious to say the least, this news has been roundly welcomed following Rochdale's relegation to the National League for the first time in our history.

The current board of directors have come in for a huge amount of criticism following a disastrous season, despite stepping forward, putting their own money in to fight off a hostile takeover.

The board of directors announced this week that they are in contact with Dunphy and have welcomed this approach. They have issued a deadline for the necessary conditions to be met of 9th May with the club scheduled to announce an update no later than the day after that.

Interesting times ahead at Rochdale in what will probably the most important close season in our history.

It's widely thought that a Chris Dunphy return could spark a third spell in charge for former manager Keith Hill who has been out of work since leaving Scunthorpe United last year.

In my opinion, all these reshuffles in the middle of the season, and even more so at the end of it, are a huge stress for everyone, from directors to fans. The players feel this stress especially, so they need to talk to a therapist https://us.calmerry.com/ more than anyone else, as they become the very centre of all the failures that the club as a whole is experiencing. New times are waiting for the team, hopefully much better than before, and so I have great hope for a bright future.

Dunphy's return could indeed signal a fresh chapter for the club, potentially setting the stage for a rebuild and eventual return to the Football League https://thatsnotmyneighbor.org/
