QPR v Doncaster Betting Preview
QPR v Doncaster Betting Preview
Friday, 19th Feb 2010 22:33

Both LFW pundits are back to have a glance around the sporting markets and point you in the direction of any decent value bets as QPR prepare to host Doncaster.

A £64.95 return for Brian last week moves him onto £53.69 profit by my calculations, although he seems to think he’s on a bit less so we’ll try and clear that up during the week. Another £50 off for Lewis who is now on -£360.78.

A 64.95 return last week means I am back into profit for the season. Ok over the 20 odd columns 3.16 may not seem a lot but it is half a cup of coffee at St Pancras according to Clive. (I had a muffin as well – ed)

The Donny game at the Keepmoat really summed up what is wrong with the club. We had Stephen Reid an overpaid Premiership player who was not interested. They had Billy Sharp who after a poor spell at Sheff Utd (except for a hatrick against us!) had a point to prove and he is certainly doing that. With my betting hat on I cannot back us to win on Saturday as Rovers are a decent side and playing well and we are not. As Mr Sharp knows where the back of the net is against us I will back him to score first goal.

In the Premiership’s early game Everton entertain Man Utd and an in form Wayne Rooney. His two goals in midweek were out of the top draw and if he stays fit and in form will light up the stage at the World Cup. I will back Wayne at 9/2 to get the first goal against his old team.

I will go for a Lucky 15 in the football this week as my selections are decent odds Celtic are awful and Dundee United can beat them are decent odds. Southampton can beat anyone on their day and are too big a price at Norwich. Charlton have gone off the boil and are worth opposing and Luton according to my Hatters work colleagues have been very lucky over the past few weeks and AFC Wimbeldon can get a result at the hovel.

Good Luck for the weekend.

For the weekend:
£10 Billy Sharp to score 1st QPR V Doncaster 11/2

£10 Wayne Rooney to score 1st Everton v Man Utd 9/2

This is getting beyond a joke now, my Loftforwords betting account is in severe arrears, I’ve even had the Whittingham collection departments ringing me demanding a repayment scheme. This has to be the week in which I can start living my life again, evaporate the fear of the Loftforwords’ bailiffs and bring some much needed cheer to my readers (I’m sure both of you will appreciate it).

What better place to start in our search for value – Loftus Road. Doncaster Rovers are the visitors this weekend, and plenty of away win boxes will be ticked on accumulators round the country. QPR are currently making plenty of people quite a lot of money, I’m sure of it. For the Ipswich game a couple of weeks ago, Ladbrokes were only taking a minimum stake of £100 on Ipswich to win at 2/1. Which means someone who has the luxury of punting full-time must have had a fair wedge on Ipswich, resulting in the hierarchy at Ladbrokes HQ worrying about their liabilities.

I see no difference this weekend; nothing has really changed since the Ipswich farce. QPR still have no attacking threat, no confidence, the same manager and the home fans will be baying for blood, added to Doncaster being a better side than Ipswich, I’m expecting the visitors to be backed off the boards at around 9/4 (Victor Chandler).

I’m just guessing what it would be like to be a professional football gambler (and yes that is a profession, for example Tony Bloom, the Brighton chairman), but stats must be the key in order to assessing value in the market. QPR recent form, according to the LFW match preview, reads “QPR are now without a win in nine, have lost their last five, have won just one of the last 17 and have not kept a clean sheet in 22 games”. Whilst Doncaster, despite a mini blip in January, are unbeaten in three – winning two, including against Nottm Forest, have not conceded a goal in 270 minutes of football (quaking in their boots at the thought of Priskin) and are one the best footballing sides in the division who tore apart a so called “in form” QPR earlier this season.

I really do feel like stabbing myself in the testicles when I bet against QPR, but at 9/4 Doncaster to win the game are the bet of the weekend, no doubt about it.

Personally I will be having a significant punt on the Rovers to win the game (my testicles recoil) but for this column, £25 will be placed on a variety of away win correct scores and the other £25 will be spread across football multiples with an Donny away win the focal point. Depressing isn’t it?

For the weekend:
£10 on Doncaster to win 1-0 (15/2 Paddypower)
£10 on Doncaster to win 2-1 (11/1 Betfred)
£5 on Doncaster to win 3-0 (45/1 Paddypower)

Manchester City to beat Liverpool (6/4 Bet 365)
