Luke Shaw Favourite For PFA Young Player Of The Year Award. Friday, 18th Apr 2014 16:17 Luke Shaw is one of the favourites to win after the nominations for PFA young player of the year were announced. Luke Shaw could make it a great year as he joined Adam Lallana in being nominated for a prestigious PFA award, whilst Lallana is in the six nominations for the top trophy, Shaw is in line for the Young Player. Joining him in the vote are Raheem Sterling of Liverpool, Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey, Everton's Ross Barkley as well as Daniel Sturridge and Eden Hazard who are also in line for the main award of PFA Player Of The Year. Of those six i would say that Ramsey and Barkley are the outsiders, Ramsey's season started like a train but an injury kept him out from Xmas up to the last couple of weeks and Barkley as good as he has been has not had the headlines that Luke has. Raheem Sterling is again an outsider at times he has done well at others struggled to get in the Liverpool side, so the main challenge will perhaps come from Sturridge of Hazard, of the pair i would expect Sturridge to be the main challenger to Shaw. But I think Shaw will nick it from Sturridge and the reason why is headlines, whilst Sturridge had done brilliantly in the Liverpool side he has been overshadowed by both Suarez and Gerrard, Shaw however has never been out of the press in recent weeks regarding big money moves and this might see him get a big vote from the lower league professionals who will not seen that much of any of the candidates so might be swayed by the media. Again like Adam Lallana this is a big award for Saints if he can win it, if he does he will join Steve Moran in 1981/82 and Matt Le Tissier in 1989/90 Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
