Can't get a ticket for a Saints away game, well the solution is at hand, pop along to the Alexandra Pub in Southampton and enjoy more than just watching the game.

Last season it was more difficult to get a ticket for Saints away games then I have ever experienced in nearly four decades of watching Saints on the road, especially due to a large number of London games in the Premier League not to mention a few popular northern trips.

Well for those that find themselves unable to get a ticket or indeed even those that have ever been to an away game in their life there is an alternative.

The Alexandra Pub in Bellevue Road (just off London Road) will be hosting all Saints away games on the big screen along with some Ska & Soul classics spun by the aptly named Belllevue Boot Boys, with the proceedings starting at Noon for every away game (assuming of course a 3pm kick off) they promise Saints, Soul, Ska & a whole lot more.

There will be food available, a barbecue if weather permits and a host of other deals with kids welcome.

Of course the Alex aren't the first pub to get in on the act of showing Premier League games that aren't on Sky etc live, last season saw a number of pubs around the City get in on the act, but the Alex are perhaps the first to try and put on a party and big match atmosphere and combine the football with music and a lot lot more.

In Liverpool for instance where fans not only struggle to get tickets for away games, but are priced out of both home and away fixtures a whole culture has grown up around watching both Liverpool & Everton live, go into the City Centre on a Saturday afternoon and you willll find the pubs as lively as in an evening as people flock to watch their team play, Im sure this is the case in other Cities but Liverpool for one have developed it into more than just watching a game of football, they have worked at making it an afternoon out.

So if you like to watch football with the big match atmosphere then probably the Alex is the place for you and now you need never miss a Saints game even when you cant get a ticket.

Nic . I 100 % endorse your call for free transport to travel to away games. However, your comment that away tickets are now the hardest to get in 40 years ,then I can't see the club doing so.

Perhaps the answer lies in subsidising some away travel, Newcastle, Sunderland, Man City, Man Utd, West Brom all didn't sell out last year free travel to the longer less attractive games might be a good reward for those that go regularly

I'd pay 50p a pint more if they didn't play Ska, but that's just me.
It's rare to find a pub that mixes football with real ale; the Sky Sports places are 'Lager joints' so the Alex is a good 'un.
I'm not bothered about subsidising away travel as I make my own way there and make a w/e of it with friends or family in the locale of the away game (or somewhere in the way). What I object to, and have written to SFC about is how little notice we get.
Away tickets for Norwich go on sale 10 days before the game; WAY to late to by cheap travel tickets etc.
In fact I don't want the Club to subsidise Sean Ticket Holders to go to these games, I want a ticket ! I DID go to Sunderland, Newcastle, Villa etc last season, and will again this year IF I can get tickets.
It seems to be all or nothing, Season Ticket Holders is all the Club care about.
Shouldn't people who can be bothered to go to the other end of the country to support The Saints get some credit i.e. why count the 'easy' London games as 'showing your commitment' etc. ???
