Eyre and Bunn sacked
Eyre and Bunn sacked
Monday, 19th Dec 2011 13:00 by Col

Dale boss Steve Eyre and his assistant Frankie Bunn have been sacked by the board of directors at Dale today.

The decision comes with Dale sat firmly in the relegation zone, with just four wins in the league all season.

Chris Beech has been put in temporary charge, and it is likely that he will remain so for the Boxing Day clash with Tranmere Rovers.

A full look back at Eyre's time at Dale will appear this week.

Thank you Mr. Dunphy for not allowing our club to be destroyed any further, and for giving me personally the number one thing on my Christmas Wish List this year !!!

Having booked on the coach for Tranmere I was after Saturdays game hoping for a postponement and my money back, instead I am now firmly looking forward to the game at Tranmere with renewed optimism.

Up The Dale !!

Now all Dale supporters can enjoy Christmas (although I thought that it was usual for managers to get a vote of confidence first!)
And hopefully a Happy New Year to all and for all our Supporters.
Chris Beech - we all wish you the very best of luck!
Ohhhhhhhhhhh I really do believe that Christmas 2011 arrived on 19th December.

Wow I wish I could predict my lotto numbers as well as I predicted this happening. I don't like seeing anyone out of a job at Xmas but it was only inevitable. We couldn't carry on leaking goals and having poor results against shocking sides like Yeovil etc etc. Yes when the players cross the white line it's up to them but the tactics are set by the gaffer, onwards and upwards..... Hopefully!

Just hours after Col's indictment of Eyre & Bunn's failings - can we have the case against Cameron & Clegg next please?

I suppose young Harry won't be with the club much longer.

Decent statement by Mr Dunphy and the board, who like most supporters regret the way things have turned out. They did give Steve & Frank a sporting chance but it didn't look like it would succeed.
A big task ahead now to arrest the massive points deficit.
Good luck to the remaining staff, especilly Chris Beech. Lets really get behind them all.

Unfortunately we had to waste the first 21 games of the season........A wrong choice from Day 1 was my opinion.

Hopefully we will offload the rubbish loanees that he brought to the club - apparently we have a playing squad of 28!!!

Only time will tell with Chris Beech but a win at Tranmere will do him no harm.

I suppose Mr Eyre was on a game to game tightrope considering the results and some performances this season. However, if we had won against Yeovil I'm sure he would still be in a job. It is such a fine line between scoring and not scoring and if one JLAA's efforts had been a couple of inches nearer, or Harry Bunns header had been a foot to one side of the keeper, or if Nicky Adams free kick had just a little more pace Steve Eyre would not be out of a job and then who knows what might have happened at Tranmere and Walsall!
I, for one, feel sorry for him and Frankie Bunn and wish them well. It didnt work for them here at Rochdale in the time he was given. Mr Dunphy had a hard decision to make, I do hope it is the correct one.
I wonder who our next 'saviour' will be?
