Absolutely brilliant news. This brings to an end a four year nightmare and battle for our very club.
I don't think we could have imagined such an outcome. There have been so many differences of opinion between fans regarding what's happened and how we should move forward. What this deal has done has met all those fans concerns and should bring everyone together.
I think we especially need to highlight the work of the trust and its board over the last four years. Without the effort of these individuals we simply would not have a club.
I can't think of a single reason why any fan would not show their thanks and support by not joining.
100% Agree. (And we have had some real disagreements!!LOL)
Can’t see any reason why shareholders need to take up the pre emptive offer given the statement from the trust, the club and the Ogden family.
From the despair of the EGM to the outcome we have reached in terms of the proposed investor is amazing and a testament to the work the trust and club have put in.
I think everyone’s concerns voice from all sides of the argument have been addressed.. This deal does not only secure the long term future of the club, for the benefit of the community but gives all sides a chance to come together and move forward as one.
Great to see they are getting fans involved and some good designs at first glance. Coupled with the quality o’neils appears to be a good decision.
You can only vote one from each section to narrow it down to a top four. Personally I would have preferred to pick top four from the 16 as I like more than one in one section and none in others. But let’s not make an issue of how the vote runs.
Well after everything that has happened over the last 4 years this is finally an amazing conclusion and we can all look forward to an exciting new era.
With the creation of a golden share the future of the club is totally secure from the likes of Morton house.
The clubs short term financial worries are now covered and we have investment from an organisation with the expertise to invest and grow the club.
They have committed to additional investment for training facilities which not only benefit the club but the whole time.
We could only dream of this out come. Congratulations and thank you to all those whose hard work made this possible.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not criticising the work we do, the community trust do a great job with the resources we have. The point I’m making is Stockport are in the school every week teaching the same kids every week. The kids see them as part of the community as they are there week in week out.
Apart from my son who was moaning as he had to wear a Stockport County kit when they took him to a football competition with his school at Man City’s training ground the other week. He saw it as a humiliation.
Stockport do amazing work in the community. They have a massive football in the community programme working with the local schools and council.
They have coaches going into schools delivering PE lessons and after school football clubs every week. In my son’s school he has a PE lesson from a coach provided by Stockport County once a week every week he also goes to a Stockport county run after school football coaching session once a week.
I have lost count of the amount of times we have been offered free tickets via the school.
They also run holiday clubs in some schools. The out reach they have throughout the borough is very impressive.
Obviously these things take time and it helps being successful but they are building their fan base starting very young.
I’d be looking to keep Gordon, he’s solved a problem position for us and allowed us to get more out Jimmy. For someone who had played little football he slotted in really well.
Every Dale fan should be breathing a sigh of relief and crossing their fingers that everything goes through.
The shares are being put into the name of the football community trust. This is not a golden share to protect the badge or colour of the kit. The Rochdale community will own the club lock, stock and barrel with a billionaire benefactor behind it should it need a few quid when times are hard.
This is not about investing hundreds of millions into the club. Its about securing it for the future so that we can continue to survive. To build our own future
This is about as good news as it gets for a dale fan. Well done to all involved.
We couldn’t give him a scholarship as we can only keep our AA status for one more year. We wouldn’t be allowed to sign him. It was explained at the forum that the best thing for the player was to help him find a club.
It was never clarified if we would get anything in terms of a fee.
The only way it could have been different was if we got promoted this season. If we get promoted next season we can still keep our AA status but that’s not guaranteed
And I think we can all accept there’s probably a lot more work going on behind the scenes than we appreciate. The trust and trust director are heavily involved which is exactly what is needed. It’s good to hear their assurances.
Patience and calm is what is needed now. We all want what is best for the club and right now that’s getting a deal over the line that secures our future. Then we can look towards a new start with our new partners.
I think no one wants Dale to fold, if we can see these next few weeks out and get this deal over the line then for the first time since we got relegated I can see a route back into the league
