Great piece Clive. Objective yet realistic as always.
I think many of our fans need a reality check in terms of how the club really is and how limited we are in terms of culture and short-termism. One thing people don't ever seem to consider is that prior to our Warnock promotion in 2011, we were rank below average for several seasons before, so perhaps our promotion was an aberration rather than one we' been gradually building towards.
We've never been ready for the top flight, and need a good spell in the second tier to get all our ducks in a row before even think about mounting a proper challenge to go up. The promised land of the Premier League can be a painful one too.
Charlton showed what spirit can achieve and this is the one area we have been deficient in for nearly half a decade. Time to fix up... |
