Paal/clueless Rs players post-match
at 12:28 23 Feb 2025

Listen, I am not his biggest fan and think that he phoned things in at the start of this season. He wants away at the end of this season and that is absolutely fine, but help the club out by sorting a move out last summer.

HOWEVER, since Illy has come back into the team, his game has lifted. Whether that is down to Chair or down to Paal wanting to play for a move, I dunno, but there has been an improvement and he was one of our better players yesterday. Not great by any stretch, but better than Cook, Dunne, Edwards, Field, Varane, Frey, Nardi and Smyth yesterday, who were collectively very very poor.

I will not miss him when he does leave us this summer though...

QPR finances released
at 12:18 23 Feb 2025

The thought of us become self sufficient comes with the penalty no-one wants to hear, which is League One will be our level. No ifs or buts, without the benefactors who own us at the moment, we will no longer compete at this level let alone the next.

We are doing well at the moment, they are funding us, they are actively looking for more investment, we are competitive, they are trying things, some work, some don't.

Yes, we look like we are going to be starting next season having to bed a new back four in, which will take time to settle in, but its alright, isn't it?

Portsmouth Reflection

Even further reflection after the alcohol has dissipated from my system...

We don't really like it up us still, do we? We remain poor against the high press particularly when you take Frey and Dunne out of the equation as an out ball, which is what Pompey did really effectively yesterday.

Teams that do that well (Sheff W and Millwall) as well as Pompey seem to have the hex on us.

Don't get me wrong, we physically competed with them yesterday in the first half, but they did not let us play our game and we ended up trying to play them at theirs with obvious consequences. The first goal was quality, but boy did our heads drop after that - Cook certainly to blame for the second.

All a bit "meh" now as we are not going up nor down...

Harsh to take as Pompey deserved that today; their energy totally bullied us. Bishop won everything up top. Dunne, Cook and Edwards could not compete.
Ogilvy totally negated the Dunne threat and Frey was out bullied.

They do not have much quality, but Murphy lit that game up with his opener. Cook gave away the second and from that point forward it was game over.

Narfi's distribution was rank today. In short no-one was on it at all... We got what we deserved today; sadly.

Pompey and Circumstance Match Fred

Not confident to be fair. They have a fantastic home record and we're not too hot on the road at the moment. Really do not want a repeat of the Millwall performance as if this lot get ahead, we'll be huffing and puffing for the 90. A quick goal from us, then 60 odd minutes frustrating them before breaking away and getting a couple more would be great, but I think a 3-1 defeat sadly...

This goes against the grain of this post and my general outlook, but I can't see him leaving because he hasn't won anything yet. Yep, he avoided relegation last season and this, a great achievement, but he knows he'll have the pick of the jobs if this builds and he gets THIS club in the state it was anywhere near the cash league this season or the next.
Stike at home means a lot to him and he will remember that in the summer.

I think he'll be with us for a short while yet.

Absolute football back water. Yes, there are thousands of fans who go, so they have to be classed as a "big" club, but the league up there is getting worse and worse. They are so far behind Celtic, they will never bypass them. They qualify for Europe by default (as hard for them to finish third as it is for any Parachute Club top avoid getting accidentally promoted out of the Championship), but they only last in that competition 'til September every season.

He's leaving for someone much further up the chain that them. Hopefully not for a few seasons though...

Bits and Pieces I loved yesterday
at 23:42 15 Feb 2025

It is so, so nice to feel a little more sanguine about everything right now. It is what football should be - something that matters for the 90 mins and then can be forgotten after. Its ACE.

On those losing runs, you just cannot see a way out - everyone moaning about everything (me included). The worst bit about this season's crisis was the aired frustrations about how crap the club is from top to bottom and that how we can't get rid of the "most useless owners and CEO in the world" if you believed what you read on here.

All the "so and so out" with absolutely no idea on how that could be achieved. All that postering and planning with absolutely no idea or no intention of actually doing anything that might mobilise the fanbase making everyone feel more and more depressed.

No sign of Nourry out or Ruben / Amit go now - as I said at the time, all we need is a few wins for it all to get back on track.

Everything is so nice now, I have genuinely convinced myself that we are not going up and we're certainly not going own. Losses like Coventry that would have been absolutely gut wrenching in November are just a roll of the eyes, a shrug of the shoulder and a slight feeling of disappointment.

We have a tough March and I am just looking forward to being competitive in those games to set us up for another improved season next year.

And last night was LOVELY. On the way to the ground, my lad and I had the usual conversation about what the score would be - I said 2-0-, he said 2-1, but then I added "it would be lovely if we smashed someone 4-0" - prophetic...

The problem is that he'll have no time to impose his methods on the team, but they will be buoyed by his arrival - other teams get this new team bounce that we don't.

Just when it all seemed to be gong.so well

Amazing how people can interpret a few clicks on a computer in all the ways this thread and other commentary has done. He might have considered long and hard before clicking "like" or he may have read a couple of lines that he agreed with and clicked. I do it on here frequently when someone says "Chair was amazin" before retracting it two lines later when I read "BUT I wish he'd cross earlier".

The world of the internet means that you are opening yourselves up to all sorts of analysis for just having an opinion. Everyone has them and everyone seems comfortable that they know your entire persona and views by reading one or two lines on X or what you have and what you have liked.

Was it I'll advised? Of course it was. Does it make him a rabid anti-semite? Not necessarily, but some seem to think so. As with all stuff on the soch, the truth is somewhere in between...

If (when?) he goes, this'll be another one of those transfers that benefits nothing but the players' bank balance. Clive has called it - he will get 10-15 appearances for the Blades this season, then they'll get the Prem Cash and realise that they can now afford better and then will push Jimmy back to the Championship with Leicester or Soton either on loan or on a permanent.

Jimmy will justify all of this to himself that "it isn't about the money, its about a chance to play at the top level" as he HAS to believe that for himself. BUT, it IS about the money as that is the only thing that will be different in 2-3 years' time.

Shame, but this is football.

Whatever you all think about Chair and all your crap about him "holding on to it for too long" and being "atrocious", there is a player that WANTS to be here. Do you think they have offered Chair millions more than they have offered Jimmy? Doubtful, but Illy signed and is staying. If Jimmy wants us to believe how much he loves the club, I have little doubt that there is a reasonable offer on the table. Yes, he could get more elsewhere, but if he truly WANTS to stay, he can.

I doubt that he will though, sadly.

...and another reason we should all cherish Chair. Absolutely he could get more money elsewhere, but when HE says he loves us, he stays. THAT is the proof, not just saying it in the press and then leaving because we did not offer enough...

As others have said it was the stoppage time think that was the "best". They had substitutions including fat boy Connolly taking 30 seconds to get off the pitch; the game re-started at around 90:40. Then the final goalkick. The ball went out at 93:20 and I said to my lad, this 'keeper will take until 94 to kick it and this tosser will blow straight on 4 minutes.

Stop the f**king clock when the ball is out of play FFS!

He was abysmal.
