Santos, EDB and Lyndon have barely played.
My conclusion from the stats (of which I’m also suspicious) is Jimmy is very important to what we currently do. |

I’m going to say it again because it’s so astonishing.
Jimmy Dunne has had 50% more touches than ANY other player in our team this season. 1600 compared with 1200 for the next most (Cookie). So much of our attacking play goes through him.

I like Jimmy Dunne a lot. Fun to watch, makes things happen, aerially so dominant, good bond with the club and the fans, the right sort, and his form since his dad's passing is genuinely inspirational. And he's so important to us. He's had 50% more touches than any other player this season. That's simply incredible.

But a great player, centre back or right back, he is not.
A very useful championship player, if used in the right way, he certainly is. I'd even like to see him reprise Georges Santos and play upfront one day. As great as a dog in the school playground as Clive might say.
I hope he signs a new contract. If he doesn't I'll be very sad to see him go.
If he indicates he won't sign then we have to balance whatever anyone offers now, with how much he's worth to us in the remaining games of the season calibrated by the replacement we could get with the funds. Anything of seven figures and I think he'll be gone. Anything less and I'm not sure it's worth it to us, and we can just enjoy him for the next few months and hope he decides to sign on in the summer.
If he does go to someone with greater ambitions than us (and if not, then why leave), I fear, like 100percent, it will be like Freeman, Cook, Taraabt and he'll never be the main man again, never play every minute. He'll be found out as not good enough as a centreback and only be cover. And he won't be fancied at rightback by most managers. He'll end up with 5 starts and 15 sub appearances a season, and that'll be it until he reaches his 30s and drops down again. And that would be such a shame when he can continue with us who love him. Slight tangent but I’d like to see if JCS could reprise Dunne’s role at fullback, with perhaps a little more class on the ball. Those two either side of Cook/Morrison/Edwards/Fox, plus Varane and Field, would give us a very solid, tall and strong base. Especially with Paal likely leaving and our current style of play which doesn’t rely on possession. |

I'm not sure he's worth £68m to Palace or to anyone, so I think that clause was moot anyway. It's such a shame about his por availability through injury. |

I agree. It’s a big deal, but it gets more coverage than it should - because it’s easy, there’s loads of content, not so much political risk, and engaging images. There’s something going on inGeorgia right? And trump/musk threatening eu territorial integrity.

61' He came on in a straight swap for Varane (on a yellow and just before coming off had to miss a tactical foul on a break as a result).
69' Colback came on for Ashby, Field went 6, Colback went to 8, Dunne went to right back and Edwards went into defence.
88' JCS came on and we went to 3 at the back, with Edwards the right of the three.
I thought he looked good. |

If their player had stopped and not shot because of the injury I would have had huge respect for him - applauding his honour and decency while suspecting him of a bit of look-at-me sanctimonious narcissism. However I’d want one of our players to continue and try and score. |

I saw the Cribs at the Roundhouse a couple years ago. I went as a late replacement and had never heard them before. The atmosphere, crowd, energy and hooks were so great. I was really buzzing. Not normally my scene at all, but loved it. |

I reread the chronicles of Narnia with my kids recently. Didn’t realise first time around what a bigot he was. He’s no democrat. For him, the nobility are noble and should rule because of genetic superiority and workers are feckless and need instruction, and the swarthier among us are deceitful and cruel. |
