Spot on. Football is a reflection of the world we live in right now sadly where the rich are getting richer and poor are getting poorer. The inequality gap is widening all the time and shows no sign of slowing down any time soon, in fact it's the opposite. Money makes money and the majority of this country (and world) don't have much and what we do have finds it's way into the very deep pockets of the very rich. The outlook is bleak to say the least.
Two match ban plus he’s away with Northern Ireland when we play Bradford so won’t appear in the next three matches for us. Very short in central midfield now.

Looks like McDonnell will miss the Bradford game due to an international callup. He's also one booking away from a two game suspension (he needs to go the next three games without a yellow card). GIven the injury to Bishop and that Read has been a bit stop-start this season is it worth getting Bendle back? Would be a big ask of the young lad, he's only just turned 20.
Hopefully Read will be back tomorrow. We don't really have a natural replacement in that position and any reshuffling of the players or formation is far from ideal. Bishop had been getting better and better this season and it's such a shame that he's suffered another injury but now is Read's opportunity to capture last season's form and be that influential midfielder we know he can be.
Matt Jay made it four in four for Torquay on Tuesday night.
Talking about former U's in Devon did anyone foresee Joe Edwards going on to have the career he's had? Over 500 appearances in total now with over 200 for Plymouth mainly in League One and the Championship.
Thought we were comfortably the better team for the first half hour and probably should've been ahead. After that they had a decent spell were on top before the break. They started better than we did second half and the balance of the side didn't seem right with no Read or Bishop alongside McDonnell and Payne having to play deeper to accommodate this. If Read isn't fit for Saturday I'm not sure how we best overcome it. The goal probably came against the run of play somewhat but it shocked them a little and we looked more likely to score than they did in the period that followed. The game was a bit stretched in the closing stages with both teams having breakaways that didn't always result in very much. Their full back was lucky to stay on the pitch after two deliberate fouls but Madden ensured they went down to 10 with his reckless challenge on Tovide. We were probably the better team on the night, not by much though, but it is nice for a result or two to fall our way as we've played far better and made more chances in other games we haven't won.
49 points on the board. 12 games to go. We couldn't, could we?
Saturday's three points took us to 46 for the season, one point better off than last season already.
The Cowley brothers now have a better points per game ratio than 10 of the 11 previous managers/coaches with a positive goal difference and a loss percentage of less than 25%. Not bad for a couple of children's TV personalities.

14 games to go and only five are against teams below us in the table. Gillingham, in 19th, are currently the lowest placed team we're due to face. I guess if we want to move up the table beating those above us is the best way of doing it.
I still think we're too far behind seventh with too many teams ahead of us, especially after three consecutive draws, but it would be nice to still have some hope of the play-offs going into April. We're going to need a big March if that's to happen and with seven games next month, four of them at home, it's certainly doable.
We love our former U's, well most of them anyway, so thought I'd start a thread where we can keep up with them.
Thought I'd kick things off with a happier moment for Matt Jay in Essex as he scored a long ranger against Chelmsford at the weekend. It wasn't a joyous return though as Torquay shipped two late goals to lose 3-2 after leading 2-0.
I know very little about Maldon & Tiptree but I think "Four years of nothing at both Colchester United..." is a little unfair given that in that time two external appointments were made in Bloomfield and Garner and numerous players signed from higher division clubs, and some of them for fees as well. Now I'm not suggesting that there was much, if any, success in that period but it seems a little harsh to say the club didn't even try.
I think we must watch a completely different Anderson play as I think the physicality he brings to the team is one of his strongest attributes. I would say he's one of our tougher and more physical players and you think he's one of our weakest. I haven't seen much from Gordon in terms of strength when I've seen him play.
Yes, you're right. For some reason I thought we had different short sponsors on all three kits but they're all Hot Lizard. Didn't know this was a Cowling company either.
Funny how the opening 4-2 has turned out to be a bit of an outlier for both teams. They've only conceded 18 goals in the following 30 matches and our 27 in the next 30 isn't exactly shabby. They've found scoring goals a bit easier than us but have only scored 39 since compared to our 34.
Goodman is well ahead if Macey in the race for the League Two Golden Gloves but hopefully we can get at least one past him tomorrow. Maybe we could get Goodliffe back for the first 15 minutes.
