ABK will be back in contention. Stephens clearly sucked up to RM and was the mole that ratted out anyone that spoke out against the philosophy of turning saints into man city through possession within the 18 yard box. Can't see him having a future with us now. He has made a fortune from being a mediocre football player, fair play to him for playing the (financial side of the) game so well. |

That game sums up how poor Russell Martin was and how the squad carried us through the playoffs not the tactics. Fulham are a good side and by not messing around at the back and in the middle of the park we kept a clean sheet. We have to accept what we are and that's a bottom 5 or 6 squad and play to the strengths we have to grind out results like today. If we get a couple more results over the Xmas period and play to we have rather than a pie in the sky philosophy we might make a fist of it |

Ever notice that where wee man goes his nemesis Eddie Howe follows? Clearly a crack pot idea but would be amusing if Newcastle wanted someone like potter but didn't want to have to pay Howe out and now we offer them an elegant solution and Wee man goes straight to training with the U16s... |

I'll go for something along the lines of " the players have obviously made a decision the way they played that first half". And "playing my way got us promoted, it's madness they wanted to abandon that". And " I have a contract I intend to see it out or be paid out" |

It was THB trying to tap is sideways to wood rather move I into the acres off space to his right that was the mistake. That is due to the manager insisting on stupid tippy tappy at the back. Nice of him to throw his third string keeper under the bus though rather than admit he's a total busted flush |

RM post match bingo card: "So proud of how brave the players were" "Anyone can see we're improving and we could've won that" "Jack Stephens isn't suspended, we win that" "Villa looked scared" |

We have no chance of winning or even drawing playing like this. Martin says he won't compromise on his philosophy, surely the ownership either doesn't want to win any games or does not understand a single jot about football. Complete waste of a Saturday morning watching this nonsense. If no one shows up to the next couple of home games, a full boycott, that would send the message. We really need ownership that actually understands football. |

He should resign out of sheer embarrassment as to how poorly his playing style is at this level and how he has no alternative way to adapt to the teams he's now playing. His entire stewardship is summed up by the bone headed actions of the player he made Capetian and then consistently shoe horned into the team despite often being the worst defender in any given game. |

Surely they'll sack Martin for this. He's on so much borrowed time right now, this performance at the back sums up he has lost it |

Camera just paaned to Martin giving dibbling instructions. Dibbling looking very confused and shrugging his shoulders. Guessing it was something like "Tyler, our goal is that way stop running towards the other one" |

Prutton is the commentator out here and he is lambasting the tactics. Pointing out that Stephens is the one telling McCarthy to roll it to Fernandes that leads to the goal. No wonder he's always shoe horned in. Until the manager changes we are going to watch this nonsense week in week out |

I think it's a reminder that the US is a center right country. Voters ousted him after one term on the promise of more moderate, centrist and unifying leadership from Biden. They got very little leadership at all - he quickly was removed from public view as he went downhill cognitively. He should've steeped aside years, not months, ago. Instead, he stuck it out until there was a coup and ultimately voters were left with two poor choices (and Harris' VP choice was beyond a joke - worse than Palin in 2008, - it exposed her as weak and insecure; had she picked Shapiro they would've stood a much stronger chance of winning). The massively low turnout for Harris vs Biden in 2020 (69mn vs 81mn in 2020) shows that there was limited resolve for people to "vote against" Trump given what they were served up for the last 4 years. Some of the more loony left stuff (think doubling down on in tact biological men's rights to be fully naked in women's changing rooms) also gave more rightward leaning voters a veil to hide behind rather than expose their more backward opinions. Ultimately Trump's bark is worse than his bite and a lot of the rhetoric is a negotiation tactic as we saw last time round. Effectively the US has gone without any real Presidential leadership now for 8 years. Hopefully it and the world can muddle through another 4 and maybe a credible centrist Dem caucus emerges in time for 2028 rather than feeling they have to lean even further left. |

The reality is it's a choice between two poor candidates (again). The fact that one is really bad doesn't make the other a positive choice. The US has had 8 years of very poor presidential leadership and will have 4 more. As others have commented, the outcome of a narrow Trump loss is concerning given he will likely try to stir up trouble. Either way it's a depressing day. |

If only he'd picked Stephens to start none of this would have happened |
| Forum Reply | That was the worst possible result for us today at 22:07 26 Oct 2024
I got back from morning chores for the last couple mins of injury time and was flabbergasted to see us only 1-0 down and with a free kick and man city sending on Stones to defend their slim lead. Rather than pumping it into the box and seeing something happens we passed it around and it ended up back with Ramsdale who did a hit and hope to their left back who was all on his own and dealt with it until the whistle blew. That is RM football and why we'll go down. Even with no time left and a goal down wed rather piss around with the ball than "risk the ball" (as I've heard him say so many times before). He'll be pleased he's bought some more time. If one point from nine games and last week's capitulation isn't going to change things, nothing will. We have terrible owners that think they can rewrite how to manage a club. It's really not much fun and there's nothing any fans can do about it. |
