Noel Milleskog transfer news
at 08:18 15 Jan 2025

Highlights reel shows decent pace, mobile about the field, good left foot & clearly knows where the goals are.

“… small build and slight..,” difficult to tell from highlights reelHe looks like a more pacy version of Liam Cullen. Hope he doesn’t get muscled off the ball as easily as Cullen.

Quite possible UJ. I suppose the point I am making is that it took us over a month to get to the same position to announce LW

All done in less than a week - why do we make it all so complex ?

Swansea City : Luke continues to make odd statements
at 16:33 13 Jan 2025

A good ‘off-the-fence’ article highlighting the depressing state of affairs at our club.

We have an uninspiring coach showing that he is unable to move this group of players forward. Unwilling to give young players an opportunity, unable to motivate, struggling to see flaws in tactics, clueless when it comes to substitions and now contradicting himself in interviews.

Meanwhile higher up the tree the organisation seems shambolic - poor recruitment, for all the success that the ‘businessmen’ in charge have had in business the club is sailing so close to PSR limits that we may be unable to recruit to bolster the pitiful squad. And why can’t we bring in loan players who actually strengthen the squad ?

Can’t disagree with what you say about the coach or the style of play. However I would struggle name 2 or 3 players from this squad that would have made Martinez promotion squad or the Jackett squad that lost on penalties to Barnsley that season.

Losing to an EPL team is one thing, losing against one of the worse EPL teams in history in the way in which we did is embarrassing. Not one of our players would even make their bench. Some people think we are 2 or 3 players short of making a promotion challenge … shocking performance

His outlook & the way he set his teams up to play has always been dire. However, unlike most managers in the EPL when his teams lose, he nearly always conducted his interviews with a fair & constructive assessment.

He’ll get plenty of offers from clubs looking to hold on to EPL status or trying to get promoted

Waiting to see how many empty seats there are …

Swansea City : A club with access to millions but can’t spend it !
at 16:46 9 Jan 2025

If only PSR (FFP) was applied fairly for all clubs. There has always been too many loopholes with paltry sentences handed out to those who don’t comply. The likes of Cardiff, Stoke, Leicester, Bournemouth, Forest, Chelsea etc. seem to have been getting away with it for years with hardly any noteworthy punishment whatsoever. The whole circus will remain a farce as long as the EPL holds all the power.

Andy fisher out on loan

Even more so when you think we could have had O’Riley instead. We didn’t need a keeper when Fisher came in , we already had Hamer & Benda

Phenomenal support as always by the Geordies. Both clubs fielded their strongest line ups too.

I remember being disappointed with our support at Stamford Bridge the night we beat Chelsea 0-2 in our 1st leg semi. It certainly wasn’t at the level that we took away to most matches in that era. Great memories though.

Not good enough - like a number of other recent signings. His stats are a little better than I thought to be fair. Is he being played out of position, if so what is his position ?

Silly Season

Only just seen it thanks for that.

It’s clear that the odds are stacked against Darling signing a new contract - wonder how much the saga of last week has really impacted the offer …

Conor Roberts … never let us down, we should not be breaking the bank for a full / wing back imo even if he comes for ‘free’ at the end of the season. It’s disappointing that none of the academy options have really come close to helping us out this season.

We need strengthening all over the pitch in reality to be any kind of force in this division. With Darling leaving on a free that’s reduced our sellable assets significantly & will cost a decent transfer fee just to replace him.

Lopetegui gone at West Ham. Potter being lined up
at 19:13 6 Jan 2025

West Ham gig is a bit of a poison chalice. A big fan base of deluded fans.

On the other hand the longer Potter stays out of the game the more his stock will fall. Can’t see him getting a bigger job in this country.

West Ham have spent a fortune on players & unearthed some good players but can never seem to hang to them. Make or break time for Potter’s career

Bringing Low in to supplement Darling & Cabango should be seen as a positive move by the club to build for next season.

Bringing Low in & selling Darling considerably weakens the squad. Be that for the remainder of this season or next.

Bringing Low in after selling Darling first is a very high risk strategy & would be put the current regime on a par with the jokers who have just sold out.

There is still time to sort this mess out. If Darling holds out & joins the likes of Bristol or Birmingham then that should tell you all everything about the ambition the club has in the short term

William speculation unhelpful says Coleman
at 15:58 4 Jan 2025

An alternative view:

Cooper - got us closer to a return to the big League than any other manager since relegation. A big part of that was due to some of his loan signings. Football under Martin & Williams is as dull as anything under Cooper & Duff was even worse

Martin - I don’t know anyone who would want him back even to clean the urinals

Duff - his ‘football’ was as dull & uninspiring as his personality. He was never a good fit as demonstrated by his dismissal of the importance of the derby to fans. He sounded like several ex Cardiff managers, not the brightest

Williams - continues to be uninspiring & lacking in how he reads the game. The squad he has is weaker in quality & numbers than anytime since pre Martinez days. Grimes is still one of our better players despite being pretty mediocre too often
