Cameron Ogden not having much luck

After inviting dozens of business contacts to last Saturday's fixture and non-performance, today he'd arranged something similar for the Oldham game, including members of the extended family. I hope they enjoy the get-together, nonetheless

Don't...!

I'm already having nightmares about the ball sticking as it's passed between the CBs before a gust of wind blows it into our net

That's been the forecast for a couple of days now, and it seems there's a few of us less "confident" than the club that the game will go ahead

Of course the game will be "on or off", but as with James, some fans have to make early decisions which could prove very costly should a late postponement occur. It's likely to be touch and go on Saturday morning - we all know that, but communication doesn't cost the club a penny

It's remiss of the club not to give some indication of the efforts being undertaken, upon which individual fans having to travel from afar can then make a more considered judgement. Unless, of course, the club couldn't give a flying eff about that...

What’s our worst squad ever?
at 13:44 17 Nov 2024

Include in that list, Phil "The Donkey" Ashworth, possibly the most hopeless "striker" ever to don a Dale shirt - or may have been the year after too; i've been trying to forget for nearly half a century!

At last... these issues are being properly discussed

There's been plenty of hints before, and i've already said what i think of those who trot out the "don't rock the boat" line - they're part of the problem, in that nothing will change unless there's healthy and open debate (it's a bit like the recent US election, and look what happens when you try to shut down debate...)

CO and family have plenty of other business concerns, and i suspect they're only just beginning to realise the full extent of what they've taken on; giving the SG-led board scope with the day-to-day stuff without having insight (initially) on the lack of fan engagement which - as said - is absolutely key to the growth of the club as they envisage it. So this is where the football comes in. JM will not grow the crowds unless he turns around the lack of consistency, which any team aspiring to promotion has to do. Yes, first year of a three year plan - which is in place with or without him

if realism is now taking hold, thank goodness. Dark clouds and all that...

Wealdstone match thread

That's an incredible effort from CO, which i hope starts to bear fruit on behalf of Dale. Truly, in the Premier League of business and yesterday will serve as a salutary lesson on the vagaries of sport at our level

Seasoned Dale fans will be entirely familiar with yesterday; crushing 'no shows' were a staple diet prior to the Hill era (and even then, during the latter stages)

JM remains a rookie manager with the jury still out. Opinions are beginning to be expressed more freely on here now, and that's healthy. Attempts to ridicule and accusations of "rocking the boat" are themselves ridiculous - and especially so after this last week

No, i don't blame JM for speaking to Burton, and neither (apparently) does CO, but it'll have given him food for thought. He'll now have a wider perspective on football at our level which will make him less reliant on those at the club who saw us through the MH debacle, but they themselves were novices in that respect

We're still in a play-off spot. As said before, next week's game will be vital in keeping ourselves up there, and like it or not, Dale managers must accept that derby games really do matter more to fans. It's also an opportunity to put this week to bed

The only real loyalty in sport belongs to the fans. Loyalty isn't 'blind'. It's not 'disloyal' to say it as you see it, it's essential. We'd have gone under without it

The reality is that a lacklustre performance is the most likely outcome following this week

Of course, for "some" it's fans who're to blame, for commenting on how events have unfolded, irrespective of club employees being in the spotlight. Laughable really...

A big performance required against Latics next week to get us back on track. I hope it happens, always wanting the best for Dale

Crucial period from now till the Xmas/NY fixtures

Thanks for your response, it's a refreshing perspective

Clarity of purpose, diplomacy - both required and it'd be no surprise to anyone that i'd fall down on one of those

Just to add, i may have done 442 a disfavour earlier since i know he's directly challenged "the top table" at meetings, rightly so

As mentioned in my post, it's recognised that all those involved with the Trust are committed people. No need to raise that as if it's being questioned - it's not

A subsequent reply has outlined better than i could the salient issues. It's concerning, to say the least, that questions are being filtered at the top of the Trust and illustrates where changes ought to be considered. I don't doubt the Camerons have had to deal with very hard-nosed business issues in order to accumulate their fortune, which now benefits our club beyond measure. We should accept their ability to address such things head on. Not doing so is what got us into trouble in the first place

Unfortunately, you're absolutely right about how the Trust is now represented

This is how it was before the recent ex-Chair of the Trust became involved - at the crucial time, during the Ogden takeover. I've no doubt that the ex-Chair helped facilitate the introduction of the Ogdens to the club and its fans, and this level of engagement is absent once again (it was an almost impossible act to follow)

There are only very committed people involved, so this is no reflection on those who remain but the current situation is akin to a vacuum, where events are reported rather than engaged with. This also helps answer 442's question, which i'm certain he's aware of anyway, but is probably too polite to say

The one good thing we have is that the ex-Chair is once again free to voice his considered opinion
