Demonstrations outside Rochdale Police Station

Without opening a can of worms - they don't expect special treatment. I suspect they don't want to be treated differently/worse, which statistics would suggest they are

Big Jim's contract extension?
at 13:15 26 Jul 2024

I'd imagine it's more security in case someone wants to poach him. Must admit I'm a bit surprised at this one, 2 years maybe but 3?

Stability for the club, great but I imagine there'll be something in there about severance/financial benefits to us if he leaves to go elsewhere (as Chris Dunphy talks about in his book, regarding Keith Hill's 5 year deal)

When Jim talked about Brad Kelly signing, he mentioned that he would support and push the "goalkeeping team". That to me sounded like he wanted a couple of senior goalkeepers, so he's obviously still looking (unless his goalkeeping team consists of first choice plus coach).

Plus, as seen with Moulden, if you can have your own keeper on the books, it's better than solely relying on a loanee.

New kit?
at 10:34 23 Jul 2024

This was said in the Commercial update on 13th July:

I know a number of fans have asked about the release dates for our home, away and third kits for this season and we can communicate an update on timings. O’Neill’s have worked in great partnership with us to turn around production within a short lead time for both playing kit and retail shirts, meaning home kits are due to arrive at the Club Shop later this month, followed by our away and third kits in August. Additional retail lines have been added to extend our range including custom Rochdale AFC footballs, bobble hats, beanie hats and Christmas jumpers, which arrive later in the year.

Exact on sale dates are still to be confirmed, but we expect the 2024/25 home kit will be available to buy in the Club Shop for our first home friendly versus Carlisle United on 27th July, and online the week after. Release dates for the away and third kit will need to follow our playing schedule and will be communicated in due course.

Another two-year deal. Never really impressed me tbh, Jim seems to rate him though!

New two-year contract!

Has his doubters but I think this is a great bit of business for stability.

Club Appeal Red Card..
at 15:01 3 Apr 2024

In a lot of ways I agree with you. £500 on something we might lose is frivolous, unless they're confident it will be overturned - if it is, that £500 could then be considered an (attempted) investment in bringing in more money for the club.

Let's face it, it was a diabolical decision and 100% should be overturned (IMO). I still doubt it will.

If it were to be overturned, Mitchell helped us win games that he otherwise would have missed, we move a place or two higher and, as a result, earned more in competition money for being better placed in the league, would it then be money wasted?

Is it just me that genuinely can't see anything wrong with the Mitchell tackle? Gets the ball, in control, one leg, on the floor - what a challenge!

It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't overturn it though, they'll always back the referee won't they.

TVOS Preview: Rochdale v Woking
at 10:15 13 Mar 2024

Probably the most flat I've felt after a win - how we won it, I will never know. I love Jim, I don't want to question his position but if (as he seems to have shown) he can't adapt, what choice will we have? Passes weren't finding our own players, most were aimless and we didn't appear to have a plan. Yes we won, but keep playing like that and we will be fully mired in a relegation battle.

Woking were a proper vile little team weren't they, dirty fouls but dropping like flies over nothing.

Two great goals though!

I think he got the tactics spot on - I criticised him for changing what didn't need changing against Solihull but this was something a bit different.

We invited the press and they played into our hands but the little balls over it by Brooks into midfield were used really well. No faffing, just useful passes into space to set us on the front foot.

Interesting that Brooks seemed keen to pass out wide with his short passes rather than to EEL or Nevett which seemed to give us more impetus.
