West stand expansion? 18:44 - Oct 1 with 2894 viewschemjack

There was talk that the west stand was going to be expanded for the press, but news came out that it was scrapped. The Evening post are now reporting that it is going ahead and planning permission has been granted has anyone heard any thing different.

The last I heard, it was being put on hold so this looks more positive.

Genetically, paedophiles have more genes in common with crabs than they do with you and me. Now that is scientific fact. There's no real evidence for it, but it is scientific fact.

From what I have seen they managed to alter the spectator exits to accommodate the extra press seats. Originally when you left the gold members lounge (either side of the press area) to go into the stands you would go through the doors and then go either left or right up separate steps and then down two walkways.

What they have now done is create one exit straight into the stand on each side of the press area. The seats lost for creating these two tunnels has been more than covered by the additional seating that has been placed over the original exits.

The original plan was shelved when we won the League Cup and therefore meant there was insufficient time between the end of the 2012/13 season and the start of our Europa Qualifiers. Also (I am not an architect) I believe there may have been some issue with wheelchair access for level 3 Platinum Members after looking at the original plans (revised plans for level 3 were submitted on 25 September 2013)

My guess would be that should we have no early start next season (ie Group Stage or Not In Anything) then it will be built. The current fix is only a short term measure for the press and the new gantry will be able to satisfy all the press plus allow more fans (possibly for long term season ticket holders) when built.

Anyone wishing to look at the plans needs to go to

It was scrapped because they could not get it designed correctly in time. There was a problem getting the new press area to fit where they wanted, due to it having to squeeze in between the current boxes and the underside of the existing roof. That is the long and short of it.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

They have made room either side of the existing gantry for a couple of extra camera positions and a few extra comms. No real expansion. Most of the broadcasters share the pictures offered up by the host and don't really add anything more than a single camera for their reporter so you could have Sky plus a thousand other broadcasters and it wouldn't make much difference.

Also, if you just type in 'Liberty Stadium', it brings you here -

Which shows all the plans that have been submitted.

The newest being the extension to the North, South and East.
