Got my season ticket but.... 09:39 - May 31 with 9451 views | G_Dale | The vouchers. No pie/pint/burger/drink. Outraged. Shouldn't they have out a voucher in for the Radcliffe bar since they are landlords? Instead they have a frankie and Bennys voucher....Also got charged £4 for using my card still.

Got my season ticket but.... on 19:50 - Jun 3 by ColDale | I contacted CG bout this at the weekend. I wasn't going to make the email public as he was going to get back to me at a later time, but given he pretty much said word for word in the online video I may as well. He said "We charge a standard amount on debit cards when selling season tickets as Cardnet charge us, we have terminal rentals, service charges as well as a % charge on transactions." He said that he had been contacted a couple of times, and as a result of that, they would be speaking to their contact at the bank to have these reviewed. |
If it wasn't a club we support and was just a shop, people would go elsewhere. Maybe the club have had the contract with the card machine/etc supplier for a number of years, and back in the day it was a good deal. Maybe it isn't anymore and now Colin (not col) is aware, he will find a better deal. Maybe. It does seem daft though that you get the £4 charge for season ticket transactions only

Got my season ticket but.... on 20:06 - Jun 3 with 1561 views | MoonyDale | This is what Cardnet say. No two businesses are the same, and Cardnet works with you to ensure we provide the right service at a competitive price. We make all details clear, so you can easily make comparisons. Our charges are based on the type of business you operate and the volume and value of card transactions you process. All service charges are paid by monthly Direct Debit, and comprise: A joining fee — this covers the cost of setting up your account, and includes a minimum 12 month agreement. Credit cards - we charge a percentage of the value of credit card payments you accept. Debit cards - a flat fee for each debit card transaction. You can rent your terminal, with the cost dependent on the type of terminal you choose from our vendors..

Got my season ticket but.... on 19:49 - Jun 3 by R17ALE | You've never bought a suit in your life! Why don't fans just write a cheque instead and avoid the £4? |
Or pay cash. Yes, two ways of avoiding the cost. But if the customer experience is affected in any way, then the club should be seeking to improve it. Still think there's a chance for some good PR to come out of this. However, still can't understand why no extra charge isn't incurred in using cards in the club shop!

It sounds like thats what most folk had to do, given the chance i prefer to use my debit card. I dont need to point out to you the amount of money the loyal fans pump into the club by various channels and to have this four pound charge slapped on debit cards leave a bad taste in the mouth, to just dismiss it and say "just write a cheque" misses the point. Does anybody know if charges on debit cards are added when making purchases from the club shop and if not why not ? [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

I've never been charged for a debit card transaction, in the club shop.

I'm also pretty sure you can purchase a matchday ticket from the ticket office using a debit card and there isn't a £4 fee. The whole payment of season tickets is a farce. This is 2013 - who uses cheques these days anyway? Who wants to walk around with hundreds of pounds of cash, not to mention you wouldn't be able to get the full amount out from an ATM in one go.
Got my season ticket but.... on 21:50 - Jun 3 with 1444 views | G_Dale | In my opinion it looks like the whole cost of terminals, fees, etc for any sales are being put on season ticket transactions only. So if it does cost 20-50p for each transaction (as said on the guideline sites), it seems rather than actually charge individuals for each transaction, they just lump it on season tickets. Possibly in hope that people already paying a few hundred quid wont mind£4 more.

Paid for mine and roccy jnr's ST's by cheque, saved me £4. Cheque books still have their uses. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Got my season ticket but.... on 00:15 - Jun 4 with 1384 views | KenBoon | Do they explain why they'll charge £12 for 3 season tickets, but it goes through as 1 transaction? They're ripping fans off, and if it costs them £4 for each transaction (remember people pay for coaches, individual tickets, etc by card too and I don't think they get charged) then the club are being ripped off and losing a hell of a lot of money by the their payment merchant.
Got my season ticket but.... on 21:33 - Jun 4 with 1307 views | G_Dale | It's obviously a lie. I've never heard a shop say you can buy a shirt and pay a debit card fee, but buy two shirts and the fee doubles! But of you just buy socks and pants there is no charge at all. Not one bit of it makes sense

Interesting thought. I've never bought my replica shirt on a credit card before, but will be doing this season (when it's finally released). Wonder if there'll be a CC charge on that?

I can confirm that the club shop definitely don't charge for using a credit card. I have bought home and away shirts for myself and daughter for the last five seasons and have paid by credit card every time without ever being charged any fees. It seem the charges only apply to debit card transactions for season tickets, as you cannot pay for your season ticket by credit card. At least you can buy your shirt safe in the knowledge of no extra fees !
